disclaimer: i looked for a previous post...excuse me if there was one...i'm in a hurry to head back home from New Braunfels

The Red Rowdies and cf.net did it...made first sentence news for all us Rockets fans. thanks again krosfya for organizing this. This was one of the funnest nba games I've ever been to, for sure. broke the 0-fer-duncan streak and made news doing it! sweet

The Red Rowdies are an awesome group to watch a game with.

That's what I was most worried about heading into the arena last night - that one or two people might respond to Spurs fan heckling and it would get ugly. But it didn't. Everyone stays more or less clean anyway, and the Spurs fans that hated us only went with two approaches:
Try and drown us out with pro-Spur cheering (good luck)
Complain to ushers (can't kick us out for cheering for the other team)

There was even a fair number of incidental Rocket fans there that joined in.

Still, nod of appreciation & respect - the SA fans showed class and took things well. That's a major reason that things were smooth.

That might change if the Rowdies do this in Dallas. I can see Cuban kicking them out.

Is that even legal for Cuban to do that? Won't be surprised even if he did tho, no amount of fines will ever stop that guy..

Good Job by the red rowdies!

It wouldn't seem like a likely thing he'd do.

We brought the F'ing house down, yall. I heard several comments from people all over the arena that said they could hear us LOUD AND CLEAR. Some guys in the lower bowl sitting underneith us said they could hear us chanting:

Who's your daddy. Battier!

...crystal clear.

A Spurs official approached us that is friends with the Rockets representative that joined us and she said she could clearly hear us from her spot downstairs.

The 'head of security' came over to us and asked the Rockets guy if we could keep it down. He said NO. So he asked us if we could keep it clean.

The BEST part was leaving the arena. We brought that place to its knees. We made SO MUCH NOISE while leaving that they few Spurs fans that bothered to try to boo us just got silenced cause you couldn't hear them over us. So then we had police escorts following us demanding that we leave ...which is what we were already doing anyway.

This was bar-none the most fun I've ever had at a game.

We are DEFINATELY going to do this again ...for the Dallas game. The next game in Jan 16th so I'll definately post more info here as things develop.

Regarding our behavior, we are well versed in keeping things clean and on the up-and-up. And we know Dallas fans are loud and proud and will hold their turf. That's fine ...it's all good and fun. So if you decide to come with us, you will have fun.

Oh man, the Rowdies at a Dallas home game. That's gonna be awesome on some many levels. You have to wonder how Cuban would react though, most likely he'd do nothing... but if Dallas was getting torched, the arena emptied early, and the Rowdies were the loudest group in the stands... who knows what would happen.

It'd be great publicity for the Rowdies if they did get thrown out by Cuban though. That would certainly be the top sports story the next day, discussed on PTI and Sportscenter and so on... and of course, the resulting law suit against Cuban would be a riot too!

One thing that I really got a kick out of was the look on the chinese Yao fans who were part of the gauntlet that watched us leave the stadium. They had big smiles on their faces, especially when we did the Yao Ming / Ole Ole chant. Yes, Yao has some great fans in Houston. We're taking care of him...smile. :)

I agree with Krosfyah...the Spurs fans were very allowing of it and didn't mind. I also think that stadium (as a stadium) is awesome...much better than Toyota :(

There were two police at the entrance to 219 monitoring us the whole game, though. There is no doubt a group like that will get kicked out if it uses cuss words. I think we kicked out a small Dallas group once. They were sitting in the section now occupied by the Red Rowdies...anyone remember that.

that's awesome! i really want to have an experience like that at a rockets game, but the majority of our fans aren't very vocal.

i'm thinking about going to the hawks or grizz game next week, how can i join the rowdies?

You can show up an hour before the game outside of the LaBranch entrance. There are tryouts before each game where they give away 10 tickets. There have been some nights where 10 people don't even show up. So if you show up wearing red (the crazier costume the better chance you have) and be loud, you'll have an excellent chance of getting a ticket. Bring a friend and tryout together and you both may get in. If it's just you, that's cool because we are all friends in the Rowdy section. ;)

Check Rockets.com for the specific tryout time for each game. Sometimes in may change a little.

Let Cuban kick us out. If we keep it clean and get kicked out cause we're embarrassing his rhinestone crowd, it makes him look bad. Coming from the ultimate clown that's at plenty of away game, it would ice him as a major hypocrite.
