"in" = in cooperation with "out" = not in cooperation with Those are relatively easily understood literary devices... as in, "Are you in or out?" If I denounce ties with CF.net, I'm out... But I would not have to be a "member" to be "in" - anyone can cooperate with the site... reading, lurking, browsing...
