Aug. 19th in Dallas....I'm there. I heard a lot more of the new album...in fact, an internet radio station played the whole album a few nights ago. The new album is definitely not typical rush...alot of guitar effects and sound layering occuring....makes me wonder how the hell it's going to sound live. Ged is singing like days of old it seems. Drums are always there but not as pronounced as in the past...i.e. not as many drum rolls, etc.. The keyboards seem to be taking a back seat this album.
http://www.canoe.ca/JamMusicRush/apr15_rush-can.html Cool that they are going to play some old stuff..I don't think they ever did the 2112 stuff live ? I saw them back around 83....Great show.
Yeah, Rush! Kickass! Some of the best lyrics ever recorded. Hmmmm... Should I make the trip to Jones Beach? ...To stand within The Pleasure Dome Decreed by Kubla Khan To taste anew the fruits of life The last immortal man To find the sacred river Alph To walk the caves of ice Oh, I will dine on honey dew And drink the milks of Paradise -Xanadu, Exit Stage Left ...No, his mind is not for rent To any god or government. Always hopeful, yet discontent, He knows changes aren't permanent, But change is. -Tom Sawyer, Moving Pictures
Actually, they played 2112 in its entirety last tour. So, they won't be playing it this time around. In fact, I listened to a 4/12 interview with Alex Lifeson saying this very thing that they will play old stuff they haven't done before and it won't be 2112 since they did it last time. I'm looking for classics like "Working Man", "Xanadu", "Trees", La Villa Strangato, etc. to be played.
The only thing that sucks about Rush is that they are totally popular with males, whereas the females really dont show up. I have been to 4 Rush shows and I would say that about 70% of the audience is male...... Kinda blows if you want to see hotties..
My favorite Rush songs: Limelight "Living in the Limelight, the universal dream..." Red Barchetta Tom Sawyer
Didn;t he loose hearing in one ear or something and hes touring now!? DAMMIT, Rush is ANNOYING as hell!
I get up at seven, yeah, And I go to work at nine. I got no time for livin', Yes, I'm workin' all the time. Chorus It seems to me I could live my life A lot better than I think I am. I guess that's why they call me, They call me the working man. They call me the working man. I guess that's what I am. I get home at five o'clock, And I take myself out a nice, cold beer. Always seem to be wonderin' Why there's nothin' goin' down here. Chorus Well they call me the working man. I guess that's what I am.
