Just looking over the Hangout and in the last five days there have been heated discusions over the following topics:

    What makes someone gay
    Is the Bible accurate
    Are Jews a race
Who's to blame the MLB owners or players
    RM95's spiritual quest
    mar1juana laws
    Does fate exist
    Gun control
    Police brutality
    NAACP
Is the Pledge of Allegiance constitutional
    Bush's stance on toxic waste

throw in some very deep ideals concerning
Mature members of the opposite sex
    Doughnuts
    Underrated movies
    Favorite short song
    Sad song
    Long song

This brings me to the conclusion that this is the longest offseason in history. Five days....FIVE DAYS PEOPLE!! Do any of us have lives? :(

Sorry, let us get back to changing each others opinions about everything. :D

    I've got one.

Bob Dylan is the best pop artist of our time BECAUSE -- not in spite of -- his voice.

    Discuss.

Htown -- you left out the fight over the dictionary's obvious liberal bias. :D

We really have run out of things to fight about. Even ZRB is admitting he's an idiot. (That is what that thread's about, isn't it? I haven't actually looked at anything more than the title).

How can the anything liberal be bias since it is obviously free of bigotry?

And the media's. Both of which can quickly be refuted by Frank Zappa's take on the Right Wing Media Myth. And since I know we all agree with everything Zappa says...

    Back to Dylan.

Bob Dylan is the greatest singer of our generation and also a fairly decent poet. Anybody?

I can't believe I left that out. :( My bad sense of humor got me into quite a bit of trouble with some on this board.

Ah, something we can finally agree on. :) I was just thinking last night how much the hangout can suck up your time... wondering what kind of numbers we would get if we added up the hours spent here each day. And I was just thinking - nobody is going to change anybody's opinion. Even if they did, they wouldn't admit it. At least we're getting plenty of thought-provoking discussion out of it...

I'm not sure about that Isabel. I know that no one will believe this, but I do find my thinking somewhat changed by the exchanges here over a couple of years-- nothing wholesale but subtle for sure.

I don't really think about changing people's viewpoints. I certainly don't expect an admission of such from folks here.

I contribute just to stimulate and move the conversation along-- often into nooks into which it would never venture I suspect. Yeah, sometimes I just damn like to be provocative.

I think of this place as a polite free-for-all. Others seem to want to make headway with the crowd.

Hell I just want to have some respectable fun and try things out...
