Wheeler for Ian Stewart Stewart has been a top prospect for awhile, but there are questions on if he will hit for power. It will probably take another midlevel prospect to get him. 2. Woody and Loretta for Mike Pelfrey or Phil Humber We need to get rid of Woody 3. Lamb and Borkowski for Mike Bourn and Jason Jaramillo I don't wanna give up Wheeler AND Qualls, and Philly needs a 3B and a reliever. We need a CF/leadoff and a catcher. You do realize that Ian Stewart is the Rockies top prospect so why would they give him up for Dan Wheeler. Why would the Phils give up Mike Bourn and Jason Jaramillo, two of their best young players for a DH and a scrub reliever? Why would the Mets want Woody Williams? There is no chance the Mets take Woody and give up one of their young arms for an average second baseman in the last year of his contract.

The Phils bullpen sucks and they lost their best bat, they have friggan Pat Burrell in LF, and Wes Helms at 3B...see what I'm gettin at? 3. Mets need a 2B, simple as that. We need young players, simple as that. Mets have nobody outside of Humber and Pelfrey that could produce right away.
not to mention linebrink got 3 top 30 prospects, why cant wheeler land stewart? he's fallen down the prospect list, and is probably #3 or 4 now, with morales, fowler, reynolds, jimenez all in the system. looking at the mets roster, they probably dont need loretta as much as i thought they would. san diego could use him, but dont have alot to offer outside of chase headley. woody, loretta, and a prospect for headley? they may have lost chris young for the rest of the season. maybe wandy and loretta for headley? i kinda want to hold on to wandy, because he's shown he can pitch at home. if we can fix his road splits, he makes a reliable #4 pitcher. theyre just ideas, so i dunno why youre so pissy about everything. maybe youve got a case of the purpuras
- as much as i'd love to get ian stewart for wheeler i dont think the rockies would do that trade. - getting one of those pitches from the mets would be great also, but i doubt ny would trade one of them for loretta/woody. - lamb/borkowski for bourn/jaramillo is a big reach. borkowski has not proven anything so no way they give up 2 of their youngins. to make this trade realistic it would probably have to be wheeler instead.
Humber would be nice if he can stay healthy. I know the guy personally cause we went to high school together. IIRC that trio of Rice pitchers all had arm troubles after leaving.
Why in the hell would he make a deal now when reports have stated that we are getting calls from multiple teams for our tradeable players? To pull the trigger now would stop the bidding process. These deals generally don't get done until closer to (or right at) the deadline, unless one of the team grossly overpays (like for Linebrink). I'd love that, but the Rockies aren't going to do that deal. It's just unrealistic. If the Mets GM trades one of their top pitching prospects for a rent-a-2B and a 40 year old pitcher with an inflated ERA, he should be forced right into drug rehab. I would do that in a heartbeat if I were the Astros. There is ZERO chance the Phils would do it. That proposal is just silly. They are going to trade two of their best prospects (ML ready guys at that) for a free agent to be journeyman and an AWFUL reliever? While the Phils need a reliever, NOBODY is interested in Borkowski. He has been really bad for long stretches of the year. To get those players in return, it will take Qualls or Lidge, and maybe not even then. You have identified good prospects that we would love to have and the needs of the teams that currently hold their rights, but you need to take off the Astro glasses when theorizing what those teams would take in return. These proposals are just horribly unrealistic.
i realize theyre uneven deals, and i said itd prolly take a prospect or 2 to even the deals to say theyre unrealistic...well...we trade our top prospect, our leadoff man, and a guy who had some upside for a #3 pitcher...so id say anything is realistic, especially for a team who has expendable assets and is in the playoff hunt.
True...however, Jennings was a well regarded pitcher. He was the rookie of the year in 2002, etc etc. The guys you are talking about the Astros dealing are a 36 year old , FA 2B, a journeyman (Lamb), and Borkowski ( who is not very good and has little value). As for the prospect or 2...who? Patton? Not likely. Towles? Not likely. Not much else other than Max Sapp in the minors. We just don't have a lot in the minors that other teams are going to want.
