I've been hearing rumors that the Warriors are considering trading a 1st round pick to Dallas for Wang Zhi Zhi.

If Dallas can pull this off I will be floored. Wang does have potential but even I wouldn't give up a 1st round pick for him even if it is a protected pick. With Forston being the odd man out do you guys think it's possible that GS will trade the 1st rounder (protected), and Fortson for Wang, and AJ? In case you're wondering where these rumors came from they are comming from Hoopsworld, and ESPN Insider. Now I know those two sites don't hold too much stock but you never know.

Hoopswold, and Insider are also reporting that Lewis is shopping for a house in Dallas (in the 500K range) and is expected to announce his signing with Dallas tomorrow.

I have doubts about the Lewis rumor, though it could be true. I think Wang will be a quality center, and for a team like Milwaukee or Minnesota, a first rounder sounds right since they won't be able to use it. You could put Golden State in that boat because Golden State only needs shooters to be a player. If the Warrior pick up Wang, if I'm New York I would immediately try and get Dampier. He can block shots, rebound and eat minutes at the center spot. He'd be a perfect fit for the Knicks. Foyle would be to. And the Mavs getting Fortson? That gives them the big, tough low post scorer and rebounder they need, and Golden State gets the veteran PG they need, and with Steve Logan gives them a strong PG core. Truth be told, if I'm both team I JUMP on this in a heart beat!

If Lewis is going to announce a signing with Dallas tomorrow, don't you think there'd be a press conference scheduled by the Mavs brass?

I'll believe it when I see it, but even if Dallas gets Lewis, is it really a frightening acquisition? I mean, Dallas already has a high octane offense, with or without Lewis. I just don't see it as helping them with their needs.

Oh well, what do I know....

IMO, a Lewis signing would help Dallas only in that way that they could put together some serious trade potential.

It would make it easier to part with Finley and van Exel is expendable anyway, so they could wait and see if they can trade for some players they really need in the future.

I'd trade a 1st rounder for Wang, depending on my needs. But if I need a sharp-shooting backup big man, a 1st rounder is very reasonable.

How would a trade work since Wang is a free agent? Sign&trade? Why would Wang do it? Do GSW have his bird rights?

Yea, it would be a sign & trade. Wang would do it because he would get more PT in GS. Not to mention he has a HUGE fan base in the Bay Area. If he were traded, the team that trades for him automatically assume his Bird Rights.
