    nm dont read. please....

    nm dont read

I dont read the front page so I didnt notice, oh well.

According to "Real GM" The Clipp's are now saying that they are not planing on keeping Lamar Odom.

    Jay to Bulls no lock
    Added: 27th May, 2002

While it is true that Houston covets Yao Ming, and it is true that Jerry Krause would love to get his paws in Blue Devil Jay Williams, Sam Smith of the Chicago Tribune reports that things may not exactly pan out as planned.

League insiders are reporting that both Golden State and the L.A. Clippers have eyes for Williams, both sides willing to make a move. The Clippers could be the dark horse of the two and have the goods that could entice the Rockets, namely Lamar Odom.

Smith reports that the Clippers reportedly do not intend to re-sign the talented small forward due to the large number of young players coming up for extensions. Odom, once labelled as a Magic Johnson clone, could be just the player the Rockets would be willing to give up the opportunity at Ming for, a package of Odom, the eighth and/or twelfth pick, and the Clippers first pick next year for the first pick and Glen Rice could be enough to get the deal done (according to Smith).

There's also talk Houston will stick with Yao but might try to extract something from the Bulls, like Jamal Crawford or a future No. 1 pick, to pass on the trade offers for Williams.

Pretty interesting stuff: getting odom, their picks for this year, and next years pick sounds pretty good to me. Plus we would get rid of one of our hefty contracts. Maybe if they are desperate enough they might give us some extra players as well...

Also, getting there pick for next year helps with the obligation that we owe next year with one of our picks. If we happen to have a bad year, we would still have another first rounder.

I wouldn't do that deal with Rice and 1 for Odom and 8!

I only would do that if they throw in Olowokandi!

Are you Kidding GermanRock?? Odom and #8 for Rice and the #1 is an amazing deal if we are sure that Odom will re-sign with us for a fair value.

If we can lock up Odom for a few years at a good price because of his health/suspension issues and then use the #8 on Tskitashivili (however you spell that!)

    In 3 Years:

    Griffin Cato
    Tskitashivili Taylor
    Odom Tskitashivili
    Mobley Francis
    Francis Mooch

    That is a team!!

Five Guys that can even shoot from 3-Point Land, 4 very crafty passers and a front line of 6-10, 7-0 and 6-10.

Imagine the matchup problems. Odom could play point forward if we're worried about how Francis sets up the offense and use his cutting/driving/shooting ability even more.

Too many question marks behind Yao Ming. The rumors are now that Wang Zhi Zhi is leaving dallas for good. I have done business with Chinese government companies before and it ended up in a federal courtroom. They see individuals as nothing but more about their part in the collective nation.

Individuality is nothing in Communist regimes and they will try to take the Rockets for all they are worth for years.

Trade the Pick and (whatever salary etc needed) to get :

    - Odom and #8 (Tskitashivili)
    - Garnett

I agree that would be a hell of a trade, and remember some say it might be the #8 & #12. Odom is a proven player, and I doubt the Rockets would have a problem resigning him. I think Odom is pretty tight with Mobley & Francis.

Question is would you want the #12, or get rid of Rices contract?

I like the way you think! If i hear the rockets passed on a trade like this I would be pissed! Odom is #1 pick material, Ming is not!

Jay Williams is the perfect player for the Clips, and they know it. They have athleticism, depth and now they need leadership and stability.

They need a point very bad and this is the best one to come out in years, plus Donald the Cheapskate doesn't have to pay a player top dollar for 4 years!!!! And Jay will come in and contribute on day One and is another dookie like Brand with maturity and will not have off the court problems.

This is a beautiful scenario for the Clips, even better than what we are gonig to get.

rumors are that chicago may even trade their pick for Odom, but then we could counter with a trade for Williams that would force them into dealing with us.

They really do need Jay Williams they would be potent with him
    i actually envy their position.

    J.Will Keyon Dooling
    Q J. Will
    Maggette/ Miles
    Brand/
    Olowokandi

    Thats a damn nice team...!

Well thats not entierly true ... in fact they already have a very very highly regarded 6'7 PG prospect coming this year in Marco Jaric, for whom they have been offered multiple first round picks. While they might still have some interest in the #1 think this is more to get some value for Odom rather then desperation for a PG ...

the clipps are lacking in 3 areas that a great team needs to be great.

    1. a second 20ppg scorer

    2. experiance

    3. a PG

jaric may be good but they cant rely on dooling and mcginnis may leave.

Except you notice they don't have a good backup for Brand, I think they might want KT as well in a trade.

Does not matter if Marco Jaric is joining the clippers.

Who ever walks away with Jay Williams will have a HOT TRADING COMMODITY.

Who ever walks away from Ming will only have NY to deal with.

All the players being thrown at the Rockets, can be had by the Clippers if they make the trade. Possibilities are endless for the team that walks away with Williams on draft night.

This is why I wouldn't do this deal. We have to compete with this team. Not to mention Odoms health and off-court issues. I would milk this situation with Chicago for NOT doing this deal and see what I could get from them. Or tell LA it's Brand straight up or no deal.;)

It looks like the Rockets are trying as hard as possible to get Ming onto the team. And that things are going fairly well so far.

In any case, if we draft Yao Ming, and we still want Odom (and I do; Doc Rocket said the Rox are still trying to get Odom w/o using the #1 pick), the point would be to match Odom with Steve and Cat. That leaves Eddie Griffin as the only trade bait, plus another player (small contract) to match up salaries.

And you know how sensitive people on this board get when one mentions trading EG.

Would I give up EG for Lamar Odom? Yes. If we can get a halfway-decent big man at #15, or somehow trade for one.

i love lamar odom, i think he'd be the perfect small forward on this team but no way would i want to give up eddie griffin for him.

i guess i'll be one of those sensitive people then. :)

What type of scenario would have us get Odom without the #1 pick?

I would hate the Rockets trading Griffin away. But like they say you must give something to get something.

Wasn't the rumor that the Rockets were trying to land Odom this year, but that the Clippers wanted Mobley in the trade talks?

    Ming
    Taylor
    Odom
    Mobley
    Francis

Can this team compete make the playoffs? Only Mobley has playoff experience. But Francis, Odom, Taylor, and Mobley are looking like a good group if it comes together.

Question: Can the Clippers legally give up all their #1s this year and next year? Doesn't that violate league rules?
