I was watching the draft with a few buddies and one of them told me he had read an article yesterday that implied that T-Mac was not happy with Mike James "Bia'ch" and him hogging the ball in the playoffs. Initially I thought he was just yanking my chain until I was driving back to the office from a sales call and heard Charlie P on the sports gerr-animal 790 say the same thing. Can anybody confirm this? I have been searching for a reference on the web but not having any luck. Charlie P usually doesn't say stuff like that unless he has a source....hmmmm Could he be on the trade block and thats why they took Luther Head with the draft pick?
Hmm. Well, if T-Mac can't co-exist with Mike James, I guess we'll have to get rid of him one way or another. Nice knowing you, Tracy.
If I was T-Mac looking at the roster as a whole I would be thinking: "Despite whatever differents I *MAY* have with Mike James, he is one of the few guys on this roster besides me that are actually athletic, can create their own shot and is not afraid to attack the basket. I think we'll kiss & make up"
Well, if T-Mac doesn't like MJ then MJ is indeed good as gone and Luther Head was drafted as MJ's replacement, as many have stated. I love MJ off the bench but if a trade involving him makes us better, so be it.
Yeah, I don't necessarily like when Mike James ball hogs, BUT he is the ONLY Rocket other than TMac who can create his own shot.
that's good and well, but when your superstar is heating up like a microwave, don't hog the ball to get your shot. It's not just Tracy that doesn't like him.
Interesting. However, I'm not even going to entertain the idea that is true until we hear something substantive or at least know the source of the rumor.
I hate the fact that every time something happens on the team T-Mac is on, people will try to turn reality into fiction. In other words, people always want to knock T-Mac down. Oh he doesn't win, oh he's selfish. T-Mac is anything but selfish and people want to fit him into the mold of a malcontent, because they "have to" find something wrong with him. I actually wish that T-Mac would be more vocal and cuss people out like MJ used to. If anything, he always leaves everything up to management and coaching and doesn't involve himself in team decisions. In that aspect he's so different from Kobe, because Kobe is very controlling. Tracy is buddy buddy and perhaps too easygoing for his own good. I bet he and Mike James are best friends and if he actually had a problem with Mike he would tell It's one thing for the media to speculate unethically in order to raise their salaries, it's quite another for Rox fans to try to create dissention within the team. I urge you to quit commenting on this and speculating unless this is based on fact. This is how rumors spread and create unnecessary conflicts.
Well, regardless of whether the rumor is true or not, I found myself yelling at Mike James more than once during the playoffs for not getting Mac the ball when Mac was hot, and of course, jacking up a bad shot himself. With that said, I'm a grumpy fan. If I were Tracy freakin' McGrady, and Mike James thought he was the 'MJ' on this team, ballhogging in crucial playoff moments, I'd be pretty upset with him as well. That said, James is too valuable to simply throw away, and I'm hoping the first round exit humbled him enough to realize that Mike James only creates his shot: (a) when defenses ignore him, (b) when rotated the ball after it's touched T-Mac or Yao's hands, or (c) when there's four seconds or less on the clock. Otherwise, Mike, please let T-Mac or Yao take a stab at it first.
I have read the same thing too from somewhere I could not remember. Probably some newspaper or radio show. The only difference is that I heard that some Rockets players and coach not happy with Mike James.
I like Mike James coming off the bench, particularly when T-Mac and Yao aren't on the floor, but he drives me crazy sometimes too. He definitely tends to dominate the ball.
Mike James was a great pickup for us, especially with the injuries we were getting down the stretch. He's the only perimeter player other than TMac that can creat his own shot which is big. But if this is true along w/ the fact that he already said he is going to bolt, the Rockets might look at dealing him. He's got better value than Wesley and Sura and could be packaged for a SG or PF. Head seems like he could be a good backup PG in the meantime, but the Rockets need to find good starters at PG, SG, and PF.
I know he was not very happy in game six when he had hit back to back threes with a minute to go in the half. Before the end of the half and with the clock running down, james hogged the ball and threw up a prayer. I know tmac complained to van gundy along the lines of " you tell that mother xxxxxx to get me the mother xxxxxxx ball when i want it".
This rumor, if true and if it leads to a trade of James, actually makes sense in light of Lindsey's comments about moves already in motion that, once completed, will make the drafting of GoodHead more logical.
