    1. I don't believe this for a second.

    2. There's zero chance that we trade Carr, since we have no one to play QB if he goes.

    3. Is Big Ben hurt that bad?

Who needs Carr when you have Sage!!!

On a sidenote I do hope Ben is ok, but Cowher and Terry Bradshaw warned him multiple times about riding his motorcycle, especially without a helmet.

I don't buy this either. The only way this would be possible is if the Kubiak has looked at Carr in practice and thinks he can't get the job done.

What incredibly bad taste it would be is the first thought after the accident was "who can we call to make a trade?"

I have always hated the Steelers since the late 70's, but I sincerely hope that Ben is OK.

I would believe that the Steelers contacted us interested in Carr, but that doesn't mean the Texans are seriously thinking about it.

    3. He has a broken jaw to start off w/ and supposedly lost most of his teeth.

What if they offered next years first rounder and Joey Porter. I'm not saying Pittsburg would offer it but hypothetically speaking would you do it?

I call BS. It's way too soon for them to start with trade offers. It takes a while to get the ball rolling on things like this, and even longer for the press to find out about it.

This all just happened this morning.

I would counter with an offer that included no one other than Troy Polamalu.

I would trade David Carr for a 7th round pick.

There's nothing to this. It just happened a few hours ago, and between constant updates from news stations, the hospital as well as other sources they haven't had time to even think about a trade, much less seriously considered one. That's not even mentioning how insensitive it would be given the situation.

I'm sure this is exactly like every other "radio" sports rumor you hear. Host needs a conversation topic, kicks around a discussion of "If Roethlisberger can't play, should the Steelers make a trade? Who are some guys they should look at?" and so on. Then, a couple of guys get mentioned as hypotheticals. From there, cue the 13-year-olds on the ESPN boards who start a thread about "so and so is in serious discussions with so and so for XXX!!!" Then it goes around to other message boards.

Besides, there's no chance of the Texans trading Carr anyway.

Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is in serious but stable condition and in surgery this afternoon following a serious head injury this morning after his motorcycle collided with a car on Second Avenue near the 10th Street Bridge, police said.

Roethlisberger lost most of his teeth, fractured his left sinus cavity bone, suffered a nine-inch laceration to the back of his head and a broken jaw, and severely injured both of his knees when he hit the ground, police said.

A plastic surgeon has been summoned.

"He is right now in the (operating room) undergoing some surgery from injuries he received in this accident today," said Dr. Larry Jones, chief of trauma and burns at Mercy Hospital, Uptown. ... He was talking to me before he left for the OR. He's coherent. He's making sense. He knows what happened."
