Just got off the phone with the Rockets Tix Rep that I use and asked if he had an update on the Rowdies. I put my seats next to them last year and have intended to do the same this season. His answer was that they may not be back, ever. I certainly got the message that their section has not been reserved for them, and he followed up that by saying: -Season Ticket sales have been healthy (business side) -JVG is gone (his cash as well as influence on the situation) He did not rule out a return, but did not sound as if he expected them to. Reading between lines, I got that efforts to bring in a sponsor for the seats didn't pan out and that Adelman is not interested in purchasing the seats (McGrady isn't either?). Bad news, but again, this isn't definitive. Tried to confirm via Brian Hopkins, but got his voicemail. Evan
dang i hope this isnt true..i was going to tryout! Rowdies were great before during and after games...esp during playoffs Rockets really should attend to keep them...
That's sad, but in all reality, we shouldn't have to buy people tickets to get them rowdy. Every person in TC will be a Red Rowdy come playoff time, hopefully...
ya hopefully...it was tough getting the fans in my section during the playoffs involved...grr i hate people that just wanna sit and not cheer about anything...golden state had an awsome atmosphere during playoffs
This is probably the worst business move for the Rockets. They need the Rowdies to make people actual fans. The Rowdies make people realize it's OKAY to stand up and cheer. Basketball is not evil.
Well, when they get rid of the Rowdies, they'll definitely see the decrease in excitement. They'll be begging to get a Rowdies section back into the TC.
The Rowdies were a nice gesture by the Rockets (and apparently JVG in particular). But, frankly, it was sort of an embarrassment that the Rockets needed to pay for fans to attend the game.
i could have sworn i saw an article or someone post a couple of weeks ago that adelman said he was all for bringing the rowdies back and he would pay for the same amoung JVG did...ahhh i really hope they come back
As much as this sucks, I will not complain if Adelman can bring 75 percent of the excitement to the rockets as he did the Sactown. It will be amazing when how much excitement fast paced basketball will bring. Just look at the uptempo teams of the last few years and the crowd noise in their arena.
The rowdies really aren't necessary anymore. I mean it was cool to get free tickets and sit near a bunch of hardcore fans, but this year we are playing uptempo and have more high exciting players. I bet after a ramp up at the beginning of the season we sell out almost every game. Then everyone will become an honorary rowdy.
The corporate mannequins don't like spilling their drinks while they're slumming and schmoozing at professional sports events.
As an avid watcher of Rockets home games on League Pass, from Austin, I can say without reservation that... IT MADE A HELL OF A DIFFERENCE!!! I was hoping that, if anything, they would expand it. Please let this be a FALSE RUMOR!
