Someone just told me that some dude on 790 am was saying that the Rox were looking into signing R Strickland in case Suras knee becomes more of a problem.

Can anyone confirm this? I doubted the info was true since it was not posted yet.

I heard it. David Dalati said the Rockets were one of the teams interested in Strickland because they are worried about Sura. But he said Strickland was not the only guy they are considering.

He played last year with ORL. Was decent for a while, but then production dropped.

EDIT: Forgot he finished the year with Toronto.

He's 1) Old, and 2) a former Knick. Makes sense.

I bet we could trade Mo Taylor & our draft pick this year, for somebody good (and young). Perhaps a trade with Chicago? Didn't they want Taylor before?

I think it'd be great if we could get Van Exel in the off season, at the very least as a backup. He's still pretty decent for his age.

Rod Strickland would be a great pick for the short term (temporary) help until Sura is fully healthy assuming he has to miss some time due to the injured knee. Of course we can start Jon Barry and use Barret as his backup if push comes to shove but we would still need another SG to add depth to the team. Charlie is out for another 5-4 weeks.

    I say great considering the list of available PG help out there with NBA experience;

    Smush Parker
    Omar Cook
    Doug Overton
    Yuta Tabuse
    Marcus Hatten
    Emmanuel Davis
    Derrick Zimmerman
Scales?? (he was in our preseason camp in the 2003/04 season)
    David Hawkins

Of course we could attempt to swing a trade [for an Aroyo or thereabout] but I am not sure there is a great market for Motay or Bowen. In a perfect world, Reece Gaines would have improved his game in the summer and played a big role for us but.....

What's Matt Maloney up to these days? Aren't we still paying him?

The last thing I read about him was that he is planning to retire at the end of the season.

This is the last season on Maloney's contract, he comes off the cap after this year. We're not still "paying him" though of course, he was paid off long ago.

I'd be fine picking up Strickland, but is Ward that bad? I'm wondering how much Ward brings us over Strickland. Even without Sura in the lineup, do we really need Barrett, Ward, and Strickland?

Charlie Ward is out injured and will likely be out for 4 weeks or even more. The team likely needs help because of Sura current knee condition. There is very limited help out there right now but the Rox are actively looking to fortify the team whichever way possible. Clear now?
