Rumor has it that the Nugs are going to acquire JR Smith from the Bulls for Howard Eisley and two 2nd round picks.
Lousy move for JR Smith. He could use some seasoning and experiancing under Scot Skiles and the tough Bulls.
I'm pretty sure that Eisley has a non-guaranteed contract and this was basically just a filler player to match salaries. Just like how the Hornets ended up cutting moochie even though we knew that he had a team option or something.
JR Smith versus Skiles would have been entertaining. JR Smith versus Karl has the potential to beat it. Especially with the chance for a Kenyon Martin tag team. Evan
Damn they basically got him for free just like we did with Snyder. Do you have a link? Is it official?
The first question I asked when we signed him last spring. The second one I happily yelled out today when I heard about this. It's sounding like that is exactly it. When we signed Eisley for the remainder of the season last year, we convinced his agent to take a non-guaranteed second year. The Bulls wanted a first, but eventually gave in to our offer. Official? No. But expect it to come down in the next few days. The guy who posted it on the Nugs board is VERY reliable and has nailed everything that's happened this off-season at least 24 hours before it has happened.
Wasn't JR Smith a key piece in the Tyson Chandler deal? So basically Chicago traded Elton Brand for PJ Brown, Howard Eisley, and a couple of 2nd rounders? Wow.
Yeah, he had to go to make salaries match. Everyone knew that Skiles would rather poke out his eyeballs than havs JR Smith on the bench. Yes, the Bulls got robbed. And now they're an incredible team. Cap space is amazing.
This ain't happening. Got a from RealGM message board. http://www.******************/viewtopic.php?t=544741
Or ESPN message board http://forums.espn.go.com/espn/thread?forumID=155&threadID=3965587&lastPostID=25633149
Doesn't matter who beat who, except for the fact of work ethic. Both are scrub players right now, obviously one more talented, by quite a margin. Both on this team will make very little impact, and both are quite big knuckle heads, something JVG despises.
Don't think the Bulls actually wanted JR at all...the whole trade for them was to dump Chandler's salary after they knew he isn't worth $10 mil/yr...IMO I'm surprised they found a taker. They also got PJ for one year which is a solid vet much needed for their young team. You can look at how they traded all those players for Brown, etc...but the real thing was they signed BWallace. If Brand was there, they would not have had the $ to sign Wallace. I would look at it that way.
Trading Smith, letting Brown expire, and trading Chandler means the Bulls would still have about 4/5-million to spend this summer (to get Darius Songaila, perhaps), or if they don't sign anyone, have around 8 or 9-mill next summer in cap space (depends on the cap hold situation) to sign a player before extending Nocioni/Sweentey/Hinrich. EDIT: And continuing to bring Brand up is silly. It was a moronic trade by a GM who hasn't been there for three+ years, and it happened five years ago. I mean, if we're going to talk five years ago ... the Rockets wouldn't need JR Smith or Kirk Snyder if they'd just drafted Richard Jefferson. (see what I mean?)
