Trade makes sense for both teams, Gasol can play center in Atlanta, allowing Horford to move to his more natural PF position. The Lakers would cut salary with this deal, and virtually guarantee Dwight resigning with them if they trade Bynum for him.
Thats just stupid, both horford and pau are at best with a true C on the floor, so having both would just be...r****ded. Plus jsmith ain't doing the lakers no favors, it would take dwill or dhoward to get them back to a sure fire championship run team... so in the end this trade gets both teams no where.
Who the crap cares about Josh Smith? The real target is Dwight and Deron, wheather they are realistic or not.
Lakers only have one elite asset. If we wanted Smith we could offer more than just Gasol who's value has plummeted the last few months.
Pau would play C on the Hawks with Horford at PF. Horford would play C when Pau is on the bench. At least one of them would be on the floor at all times. Josh Smith would be a decent fit on the Lakers and adds athleticism and speed. I don't know about their team chemistry though. Ideally, Lakers would get a big upgrade at PG in return for Pau.
Salaries don't match, Atlanta has nothing else on their roster to match salaries. And the Hawks would end up in luxury tax hell. Not happening.
