which sampson? the only sampson i can think of in the league is jamal sampson and isnt he on charlotte? did SAR just sign with the kings or would it be a s&t?
Makes sense. They wanted SAR and that was one of his choices as well. They still have thier MLE as well. Sampson was a nice rebounder. If they get SAR what will they do with Kenny Thomas? He makes a boat load to be riding the pine.
It's bouncing around the web quite a bit, didn't hear about Sampson though (Jamal, the center from Cali?). The Sac Bee had an article about it earlier this morning, but they certainly didn't claim anything to be imminent. If I were Portland, I wouldn't take his physical question marks as a sign to trade him at the first chance. Teams are desperate, see what bubbles up.
Here's the Sac Bee article by way of Oregonian: Elsewhere, a report in today's Sac Bee indicates the Kings are very interested in the free agent: "In light of the events of (Tuesday), and that Shareef is now a free agent, we have very, very, very serious interest in trying to work something out in the next couple of days," Petrie said. "It's highly unlikely that this would be a sign-and-trade deal." A sign-and-trade would be possible only if Portland general manager John Nash were willing to cooperate. He was adamant last month he wanted no salaries in return but may have changed his mind after he couldn't secure the trade exception he covets. Such a deal would give Abdur-Rahim a larger contract over six years, rather than the maximum of five years he can sign for with a new team. Nash was on vacation and unavailable for comment. http://www.oregonlive.com/weblogs/blazersblog/ Oregonian also reports J. Sampson has signed with the Kings.
The Kings equivalent of Clutchfans was buzzing yesterday about some major, imminent deal. Supposedly a radio station in Sactown said something major was going down soon and everybody assumed it involved SAR.
With potentially SAR to the Kings, their team looks like this Bibby/Hart Wells/Martin/Garcia Peja SAR/Thomas/Williamson Miller/Skinner/Sampson And I would assume they would let Mo Evans walk. Interesting lineup. Looks like a lot of scoring, but minimal defense.
So last season, you wouldn't stop taking shots at Juwan Howard, and now this year it's going to be SAR?
Always good to see another Cal Bear on here! I was actually hoping to see SAR and Kidd on the same team -- two of the best Cal products ever wreaking havoc in the East. Oh, and Tinman -- you're SAR schtick is getting really tired.
Khan, You know I'm right that Cal and Michigan players have been so overrated in the NBA. Face it Khan, you've lost! YOU WILL NEVER GET GENESIS!
as I said in another thread, I guess the Kings need another broke down, no winning, power forward to replace Webber !
