Rudy T. Update Mar. 20 - The Rockets announced today that Head Coach Rudy Tomjanovich would not be joining the team on its current West Coast road trip as initially planned. On the advise of Rockets team physician James Muntz, Tomjanovich will remain at his home in Houston. A further medical evaluation regarding his return will be conducted when the team returns from its five-game trip that concludes against the Los Angeles Clippers on Monday, March 24. To say the least, we're in big trouble...and done... I want to correct my prediction (0 - 5) on this roadtrip...
That's very bad news. I hope Rudy T is ok. He need to rest big time and I don't know how he can continue coaching for his body to recover.
My bad... I hope Rudy pulls through and gets well very soon... He should be able to quit/retire at his choosing, he's a great person and coach... All I was thinking about was the game...I do hope the Rox pull together and win a couple for Rudy...
Can we sign coaches to a 10 day contract? Seriously though.. I'm very scared. I was at the game last night in Portland and felt like Larry Smith has not done an adequate job in directing the team and my biggest problem is w/ substitutions.. Hopefully, Rudy has been on the phone with him and this won't continue.. We need to get motivated and win some games for our coach!
maybe it would be in the best interest of the teams playoff chances for Rudy to ask Calvin Murphy to be the interim head coach for the duration of the season. the reason I say that is I dont think there is a realistic chance of the Rockets making the playoffs with larry Smith or Jim Boylen leading the way. But Calvin Murphy seems like the only other guy besides Rudy, who the players will respect and listen to. all that is trivial stuff though, the most important thing is for the coach to rest and do whatever it takes to get well.
I am with you bro. Situation is critical now and we need drastic measures. I thought that our talent alone would have seen us through at least one of the last 2 games but our cronic moronic indiscipline and our out-of-his-depth substitute glorified ballboy(s) have nullified that. Get well soon Rudy. PS. Is it me or do some of you out there fear that Rudy might decide (due to pressure from family or doctors) to take the rest of this season off to recover completely. I hope Les and CD are paying attention to these "developement".
To even consider this option says A LOT about how we all feel about Rockets current group of assistant coaches. Assistant coaches have to be able to step in and coach a game effectively if asked upon. I don't think the assistants we have are qualified. Get well Rudy!
While I agree that the latest news is bad, I don't know if I can say Larry SMith has done anything (or not done things) that led to losses so far. Sure, everyone has idea sabout substitutions, but ultimately the Rockets players are the one that play the game. And they have been dissapointing.... not consistently running the offense, but worse, not giving consistent effort (diving after lose balls, staying with their man on the perimeter, allowing too much penetration and thus digging Yao, Cato, or Griffin a hole defensively). Sure, *if* Rudy would have come back early it might have inspired the players. And you would hope Rudy T would be better at substitutions. But if the players themelves can't get up to play such key games on their own...
How about that damn 3 guard line up of Moochie, Francis & Mobley, which Smith played for a great deal of the 2nd half of the Seatle game? Talking about nightmares from the past!!
Get well Rudy. I've bashed you many a times before but please come back soon. I can see us losing the next 5 games.
Back to my topic again. Look like Rudy T is also very concerned with his health right now. Rox should better be well prepared in case Rudy T cannot make a return in the near future. The season will be over soon for Rox if they keep Larry Smith doing the head coach job.
so if mr. mean-ingless puts in: tito maddux cat mobley nachbar rice cato it shouldn't matter because the players have to perform, right? i know, it's an overexaggeration, but my point is that it DOES matter who is in the game and when they are in. what you're saying is like telling the chess pieces to play themselves. it doesn't work that way. someone has to move the pieces into the most advantageous position(s).
