Some talk about old guys (Jordan, Patrick Ewing), and thoughts on "growing up" as a basketball player and a basketball team. [Re: Steve Francis] "I think he's very similar to Hakeem Olajuwon in his warrior mentality, wanting to win, and being a good person and doing all that stuff, but there is more to the game too, and reading defenses, and finding the correct guy, the same problems Hakeem had earlier in his career, and when he perfected that, that's when the big wins and the championships came. I think Steve's in the same position." [Re: a young team] "I felt...that we were too young last year. Knowing that we had a good nucleus of young players that had started the process, there's going to be some pain...but we felt we could be a playoff team, even with the youth...and that's exactly where we are at right now. The other thing is, you gotta have a defensive team. You ain't gonna get anywhere unless you play defense. We might have sacrificed in other areas like shooting, which I feel is a weakness, but we needed to." 1 hour, 27.6 MB http://homepage.mac.com/echen/FileSharing3.html
Incidentally, if you are running Mac OS 9, Mac OS X, or Windows XP you can access the Public folder of my iDisk directly. Downloading that way is somewhat better than going through the web site.
Thanks edc for the work. Who is that caller asking (1) possibility of Tylone Hill (2) starting MoT over EG (3) loosing EG's 3pointers? Rudy said "no, no and we are trying". Trying to shoot less or more? When that Chris caller asked about the direction of the team, RT kind of ducked the question. Chris, are you a cc.netter? What do you think of RT's answer?
thanks edc. i live in austin and dont get to listen to the show-this rocks. i just got a brand new computer w/ xp (its the bomb!). my old one would not download these for somereason, but now i can listen to my heart content. thank you edc and thank you bill gates.
thanks edc, the first quote of Rudy's you posted scares me. It's one thing for Hakeem to have had trouble reading defenses and finding the correct guy, but Steve's the freaking point guard. I guess we're in for a long ride.
Wait a second. Is RT implying he sacrificed players who can shoot for players who can play defense?? Um, Rudy, they don't do either that well.
That's interesting because it's seemed like Rudy has sacrificed defense in favor of offense the past few years (Walt, Bullard).
Well....somebody please call Rudy. Tell him that we better make the playoffs. And tell him to start Glen Rice and Mo Taylor and give him the obvious reasons. And tell him our team better start games off well instead of always playing catchup....... somebody please tell him that Posey and Griffin need to learn how to shoot.
