Now that Coach K is out of the running, how many of you think that R.T. should tell the Lakers what they can do with their job offer? An NBA coach with 2 championships gets "dissed" for a college coach who hasn't even set foot in the NBA? Please.

Rudy, don't do it. You're too good for that sham of a franchise (well, they used to be great). Wait for something better.

This is Rudy's call. Not mine. I trust he makes the decision which makes him happy and fulfilled.

I agree. But, Rudy is a very patient man & might feel he has to prove all the doubters wrong. If he's able to take over the Lakers & turn them back into a Championship team, he will have established himself as one of the truely great coaches of all time. Especially, since he might not have Shaq, & Kobe went out of his way to recruit Coach K. Will Kobe listen to him, or will he pull a Francis & ignore him?

It's a real shame that Brown is the head coach of Detroit. If we can't have him, it would've been nice to have seen Rudy go back home & been the one to turn Detroit around.

Hey Rudy, if you wait a couple of more years, Brown will probably move to another team. :D

Rudy will work find with kobe, because he'll be able to do anything he wants to on the court no matter how bad the team looks.

If I were Rudy, I would just take my potfull of Les's cash and go fishing in the Bahamas. Jimmy Johnson should take him out on his boat and show him you don't have to be stressed out to be alive.

Rudy, how do you think you became a sleep deprived alchoholic in the first place? Maybe you shouldn't revisit that behavior.

Only if Les agrees to put the team on the market IMMEDIATELY...

Or he can tell Lakers he will sign if they offers him a MAX contract, starting at $15M a year. :)

I'm sure this is a blow to Rudy's ego, but hey, it might just put a bunch more money in his pocket ... he'll just have to say that cash will heal it ... :) He's already getting 4 or 5 mil having fun scouting, so they better make it a hell of a lot better than that to be in the LA spotlight.

If he takes anything less, then he will be laughed at all over the world. I don't see that happening.

If Lakers ever comes back to Rudy, they won't bring a lesser contract to start with.

There's no way Rudy would get Coach K money. The word is Coach K was offered $8,000,000 a year, 5% ownership of the lakers, and title of team president, all because Kobe said he would leave without him. There's no way they would offer that to Rudy.

Oh, and if Coach K turned this down I think there's no way he will ever coach in the NBA. It would be extremely difficult to find another offer as good as this.

And that'll get him fired. That's why the Rockets didn't make the playoffs with Francis doing what he wanted. The Lakers won't be near as patient as the Rocket's organization.

But if Lakers come to a coach with Rudy's credential and offer a lesser contract, they are saying "you don't worth the money we offered K. Although you won two rings, we still expect you to take less money." Do that make sense from a business negotiation viewpoint?

Lakers made stupid moves by catering Kobe too much. Now they are in a corner. They either offer the same contract to Rudy, or a cheap contract to a loser coach and start rebuilding.

I'd like to see Rudy go after the Atlanta job. They've got a lot of promising young talent & a boatload of cap space. Do you think having Rudy there could convince a star or two to sign up? I do.

Edit: By the way, Larry Smith is already one of the assistant coaches there.

Is there sports fans in Atlanta? They have trouble filling up any statium. They probably had 2000 fans per game last season. And there were more Cub's fans than A's fans in A's stadium last year. It must suck to be an athelet or a coach there.

That team can just shut down and it won't be hard. They only have $1M committed contract after next season.

"Hey, Rudy T! My bags are just sitting there. They're not going to move themselves."

"Anything you say, Kobe! Thumbs up!"

I think RT can do better than the declining Lakers, but it's his life and career, so I wish him best.

Note to Orlando: FIRE current coach who took over for Doc Rivers and hire Rudy who already has experience coaching the ex-rockets. Orlando is going to be a 5th or 6th seed in the east next season and maybe a 4th seed if Dwight Howard has a season like Amare Stoudamire had his rookie campaign. They can be like the Heat of this past season with a high flying backcourt and a big man rookie who wants to prove he belongs in the NBA. As Ben Stiller said in Starcksey and Hutch: DO IT, DO IT Weinsbrod!!!!!
