Dream is ready to play and Rudy would not even let me play on this road trip what gives? I feel that Rudy turned his back on Dream after years of loyalty. First Rudy cuts his minutes and now he wont even allow Dream to play. The Rockets should just let Dream go as he wishes. Dream wants to play not sit the bench half the game. Rudy should just waive him cause he is only gonna play Dream 21 minutes a game when he comes back anyway.

    You're not Hakeem.

this is just an NBA conspiracy. Hakeem's going to be traded to the Pacers, and will lose to either Shaq or Ewing in the Finals, like it was supposed to happen in 94 and 95.

Well, if Hakeem was going to be traded, I would rather it be the Pacers since they are my 2nd favorite team and I usually follow them in the playoffs.

One other thing...why so many threads just on Hakeem? We've got 4 or 5 already.

I think it's the opposite. I think Hakeem turned his back on Rudy T. and the Rockets, demanding to be traded or waived.

I thought a player had to spend 5 games on the IL before they could be reactivated anyway?

Did anyone else notice how Rudy looked annoyed on TNT when he was interviewed about Hakeem? They asked a question about Hakeem's injury, and Rudy said it's getting better or something like that, and then the reporter mentioned that Hakeem had said he was healthy. Rudy said that he hadn't been coming to practice, and if you don't practice, you won't play.

My take.. if a player disrespects your organization and refuses to participate in practice he shouldnt play..i mean im a huge dream fan esp during the finals yrs and id hate to see him finish his career in a another uniform.. Why should he get what he wants..in fact we need his services for the rest of yr for two reasons 1.we lack healthy centers and 2. to open up tons of cap space to flaunt cwebb or resign mo and shandon..i think cwebb is a strong possibility myself. Plus waiving hakeem now means he got his way and it looks classless by the organization. The rockets need to keep hakeem for the rest of this yr and then part ways with him..Although it pains me to envision him in another uni..it is inevitable(he should retire) but the rockets need to decide when not hakeem.

I don't care if the guy wants to play or not anymore. This is becoming way too much of a distraction.

Dream, you want to play--and Rudy doesn't want you to. Sorry. But hey, you make a ridiculous amount of money--forgive me if I don't cry myself to sleep thinking about your plight. That may seem a little harsh, but I've had enough of this.

Release him, trade him, keep him, play him, whatever, but LET'S STOP worshipping him. He is a man-a basketball player. Tomjanovich is a man-a basketball coach. What Rudy says goes, and despite what Dream thinks he can give to this team, I trust Rudy to make that decision. It's his job, and his call to make.

When Olajuwon began demanding to be released and actively started trying to get something arranged to get OUT of Houston, I would say that Dream turned his back on Rudy T. first. Forgive Rudy for not waiting around for him.

I am the truth--and I will continue to tell the truth. [IMG]

Why should Dream be forced to finish his career on the bench? He has a right to play.

I don't agree. I don't think Dream has this inherent "right to play."

I don't think that in his extremely large contract it states that he will always have the right to dictate when and how much he plays. Basically, he is obligated to be willing to play when the coach asks him to, and, regardless of how much this is, to take his large paycheck. Sounds like a pretty decent deal to me, and one I wouldn't really be complaining about.

I'll even concede that perhaps it is so frustrating for Olajuwon because (in his mind) he just has so much heart and talent that it's killing him not to be out there.
BUT IT'S NOT FOR HIM TO DECIDE!!! When Olajuwon is named player/head coach, then he can dictate how many minutes he will play and just who will be the focal point of the offense.

The guy won two championships. For that I am grateful. But it doesn't give him the right to dictate how the franchise should run itself. It doesn't give him "the right to play." Until he is the NBA commissioner, or at least the GM or coach of the Houston Rockets, they are the HOUSTON ROCKETS. And he has no right to tell them how to do their job, regardless of how many championships he won.
