Rudy on 610 right now. Nothing big mentioned. Just talked about they haven't yet decided how many of the picks they are going to use and chances of a draft pick trade are better this year than usual. Mentioned that White was a mature 20year old because he was on his own in high school. 3 probably his best position. Also mentioend gasol probably be best at the 4 position Mentioned they really want to keep dream but wouldnt' talk about contract etc since rockets dont talk about that type stuff with media. also mentioned that he just got back in town so not sure where rudy has been? out at camps scouting? nothing major but i'll mention more if I t hink of more that he said. oh.. they also talked about finals some.. he mentioned the great play of fisher and mckey.. and also how clutch he thought horry has been ------------------ Shane "Save Our Rockets" "Life without basketball in Houston........without an arena that is what it will be" [This message has been edited by Rocket Fan (edited June 14, 2001).]
He also said that chances are better this year than past years to move up. He said this is a deep draft and there is no franchise type player. That is not including the high schoolers because you never know what you get. From his tone it seems that a deal to move up is close. Or there is plenty of options. ------------------ Fuggetabout it
verse. I also thought about the reference to best friend i know the chicago camp was last week I think, but they asked him about what all the rockets are doing to help flood victims and he said he wasn't quite sure.. he had just gotten back in town... so i don't know where he had been.. i assume he was in town early enough today to see white work out though.. I also from the tone of his voice have a feeling somethign will happen.. he said they weren' tsure how many of the picks there goign to use.. as if they have an option so they must be having deals on the table.. and later said something if i heard him right about some teams in a deep draft like this might think they need 3 players and be interested... he also said about the picks that they would like to be able to pay their own free agents that's why they might not want to draft all their picks.... we knew most of this.. just passing it along ------------------ Shane "Save Our Rockets" "Life without basketball in Houston........without an arena that is what it will be" [This message has been edited by Rocket Fan (edited June 14, 2001).]
one more thing i forgot to mention... rudy sounds like he doesn't think teams will be playing all out zone except maybe dallas... he did say though when asked about if it rule changes made a difference in who they drafted and he said yeah.. loooking for people who are good shooters.. make them pay for leaving someone opened.. he also said that they've used equipment people and coaches on the court to kinda work thru some of the possible rule change affects ------------------ Shane "Save Our Rockets" "Life without basketball in Houston........without an arena that is what it will be"
Can you imagine all the work behind the scenes? ------------------ Rarely is the question asked: Guns kill squirrels than REDRUM to fools across the nation?
Guns don't kill squirrels, people do. I'm surprised Rudy's not anticipating more zones. Did he happen to mention if he wanted to trade for Horry? j ------------------ Some days you just can't get rid of a bomb! [This message has been edited by silent j (edited June 14, 2001).]
So add the 'aile' and the 'long long time' together w/ Rudy's compliments on maturity and I think we've deciphered a bit more of Doc's jibberish. ------------------ When this guy started smoking 40 years ago, people had no idea it was bad for you. People had to guess based on the hacking cough, shortness of breath, and bloody phlegm girl you looks good won't you mock that draft up?!
silent j.. no he didn't.. they dont usually discuss trade talks.. but the hosts were talking about the finals and he is the one who brought up the role players and mentioned that horry is his usual clutch self in the playoffs like during their runs. so by those compliments doesnt look like any hard feelings between the two.. at least not on rudy's side at all.. kenny smith was on later this afternoon.. oh it is always nice to hear about those 95 teams... he was asked to compare shaq to hakeem and he was like i still take the big fella from houston three four ------------------ Shane "Save Our Rockets" "Life without basketball in Houston........without an arena that is what it will be"
If I remember correctly, Rudy even referred to him as "our old friend" or something to that effect. He sounded pretty proud of Horry. ------------------ "If you don't understand it, don't try to understand it." -Carl Everett
