    Yea, that was pretty impressive.

I don't know........but the grizz look a lot better than last year's team. Maybe its just because its early and they haven't got depressed from losing a lot yet, but I don't think its unreasonable they could win 35-40 games this year--mainly coming off beating crappy eastern teams and surprising a few western ones.

The last shot was pretty amazing.

BTW, who noticed Howard almost didn't touch the ball in the entire fourth quarter on the offensive end?Wait, isn't he the No.1 center in the league?

he got fronted by multiple guys pretty well. surprised grizz didn't do that to yao. but howard still hasn't improved his post up game at all from the 2 games i've seen so far.

they will be decent if rudy becomes a superstar (or near it). he has shown so far he can carry the load offensively. if other guys like mayo or conley can step up, they'll be a surprise.

in this league, it takes a super scorer + some good role players and you can be pretty decent.

I'm doing a disservice to the other NBA thread that A-3PO started first that you guys should be posting this in but I'll make my point here.

Rudy Gay is the present day version of Dominique Wilkins. Was Nique good? Hell yes. Just like Gay. Can you build a team around Gay and win a title? Ultimately I say no, just like Nique.

Anyway, I'm just trying to put a damper on all you Gay lovers (who are prolly Battier bashers also), as Nique was a talented player that never won anything. I wasn't a big fan of Nique anyways, and in the same vein I'll always root against Rudy Gay.

    (1) I think Nique was incredibly overrated and (2) Gay won't be that good. He'll never be the type of player that can take over games on a regular basis like Nique. He's got the athleticism but his handles just aren't up to snuff.

I can see that, Seattle or Las Vegas has lots of people, they need some form of entertainment to watch, even if it's a lottery team.

Either that or you guys are having free tickets for attending grade school every game night.

    Yup,

As good as Gay is, he will never be Kobe or Tmac type player. He just doesnt have the handles to be that type of player. Its not something you can teach......

Well I don't want to open an old wound but we didn't trade Gay for Tmac or Kobe we traded him for Battier. Looks like the Grizz definately got the better of that deal and I'm a big Battier fan but lets be real.

I see what you are saying, but given our situation I think both teams benefited from the trade.

With our group of guys now, I rather have Battier than Gay. I am in no way saying that Gay isnt a very good player, but I just dont think he is a superstar or franchise guy like some are saying.

you do know 'nique did go deep in the playoffs several times. he just went against the great celtics one year (nique v. bird duel if you remember) and the bulls.

let's not put gay into that category just yet. nique is an all-timer.

he's scratching that surface as a franchise player now. i believe in 1-2 yrs, he will become a superstar.

You are kidding yourself if you think Rudy Gay is a franchise player. He will be very good, but you can't be an elite wing without elite handles. And you don't develop handles this late in the game.
