The way that guy moves without the ball and finishes so creatively, man...do I wish we got him.....

Portland is going to be VERY VERY good, so many skilled athletic players......and Oden too.

    OMFG... !!!!

I wish the Rockets could have gotten Fernandez, he is exactly the kind of guy that would have been great off the bench with Brooks.

We settled on AB after not getting Rudy. Couldn't have had both.

I agree Rudy can be special. Just imagine him after a couple years of NBA seasoning.

I don't think so, that is his game, he moves without the ball to get open...Reggie Miller style.

Only Fernandez is more creative with the ball.

Portland has a keeper in this guy... a very good baller.

I have to agree with you DD, a Reggie style or JJ in college even (off the ball wise). But he can definately but the ball on floor and get to the basket too, that's what I enjoy by watching him, his confidence. Did you see the way he attacked Yao...Artest, he didnt' back down to anyone.

Great pick up by the Blazers.

He reminds me of a bigger, more athletic Drazen Petrovic. Crazy dead-eye shooter with a bit of defense. Wish we had him :(

He has a nack for the game, so he's had no problems translating to the NBA, like Ginobili.

It was interesting that the Rockets were able to guard him with PGs -- Rafer and Brooks. In time, he should be able to turn that into a mismatch in his favor.

Offensively, he reminds me a lot of Kevin Martin.

    Good comparison.....

The reason PGs could guard him was that he is rail thin and uses his quickness to his advantage.....Brooks negated that quickness and Alston at least tried to negate it.

Maybe teams will figure it out and guard him with smaller quicker players, then he will probably just go over them for a lob dunk.

    :D

Beyond his ability to move without the ball and score, I really just like his overall court awareness. He's great at tipping the ball to teammates. He understands how to throw a lead pass to a teammate to get them an open shot. When the ball comes to him on the perimeter, he senses the rotations and swings it quickly without hesitation. I'm hopeful Brent Barry can bring some of those things to our offense. But boy, did he struggle defensively yesterday.

Nobody in the history of the NBA has been able to move off ball like that for a whole season... NOBODY. Not even Reggie Miller.

He will slow down and once his speed is down for the season he will get sloppy and start making tons of mental mistakes. take it to the bank.

Yeah, and even those players don't push as hard early in the season as Rudy has been doing.. at the pace he is going he won't even have fresh legs come all-star break.

    ????

Fernandez actually has ball handling skills, can attack the basket, play some defense, draw fouls, etc. He's not just a shooter.

I do agree with others though that he's going to be on tired legs at the end of the season. I think that's something he'll learn to overcome though as he matures in this game.

    That's a terrible comparison.

Just another reason why the Rockets should sign Darius Miles. Portland keeps going after the players the Rockets want. You can bet your ass of someone would have done it to the Rockets by now.

Are you serious? Kapono is a one-dimensional 6'8 stiff. Fernandez is fluid in his movements, has handles, can move without the ball, has a quick release, can penetrate, good passing skills, gets steals in open court and has athleticism. If anything he's like Ray Allen light.

He reminds me more of Rip Hamilton.
