I think they certainly will.......... I think Rudy's gonna be a great mentor for Ming to nourish and grow..... Rudy said in an interview, Ming reminds him of Hakeem... Hakeem was the best player ever played for Rudy.. so I thought it was a tremendous compliment for Rudy to say something like that... sort of like when Phil Jackson compared Kobe to Jordan. some people say that Rudy doesn't like to use rookies... but this won't be the case, unlike other rookies in the past, 10+ or 2nd round drafts, Ming is a #1 draft pick.. and also Rockets is a center-deprived team ever since Hakeem left.. so Ming will certainly get plenty of minutes to play and improve..
Absolutely! Rudy is a teacher first... He's very good at teaching *the game* to new players. Just like he did with Eldridge Recasner, Chucky Brown, Matt Moloney, and Emmanuel Davis (All CBA players). Those guys loved Rudy. Rudy has problems with players that are "stuck in their ways," or "old dogs" that don't want to learn new things. So, Yao and Rudy will mesh perfectly. Yao himself said that Rudy shouldn't adjust to him, rather he will adjust to Rudy. That's a good sign!
Uh...David...didn't you have a thread about how bad Rudy was doing? I guess you changed your mind. Also, Rudy has used some rookies to start. I believe one of the last ones was named, Steve...something...uhhh..can anyone help me here? I also want to say Rudy used Dickerson and Mobley a lot, but I'm not that sure. So anyway, I assume Yao would get plenty of minutes, unless he is fatigued,gets fouls,etc. Also, I think the Rockets have some of the best to teach big men. I think Carrol and some others helped teach Hakeem when he was young. They probably helped Griffin this past season,hopefully.
Cause he never tried to get taught. You have to want to get better, on order to get better. They couldn't force him to come in every day during the summer. Especially since all he cared about was his money. But I think he may have changed this offseason. He may come to camp overweight and lazy, but I think he may have worked a little with the Rockets, in order to get better. Call me crazy. (My new name is Crazy, isn't it? )
Uh, RC Cola do you live in a black and white world (all or nothing, with us or against us, one or the other). My comments about Rudy still stands; no offensive scheme! I can't believe you still don't get what I was trying to say. Hello!!!! As far as Rudy and young players, he's good at that. But, I still don't think that Rudy runs plays that take advantage of their full tallent. Here's an example. We'll see if Rudy will use Yao's great passing skills this year from the post to cutters in the lane. Like Jabbar used to do. I'm not talking about just dropping the ball down to Yao and then kicking it back out for the 3pt. I'm talking about real ball movement. Real motion. Cutters that drive (w/out the ball) to the basket open to receive a pass from Yao. Pivot passes. That's what I want to see! That's using Yao's passing skills! We'll see if he changes up things this year. But I doubt it. Most likley we'll see one-on-one play. Boring and predictable. The thread above was about whether or not Rudy and Yao can get along. But whether Rudy and Yao can get along has nothing to do with the fact that Rudy can/or can't run a better offense this year. Again, we'll see.
After the game in Canada, Rudy commented on Yao, "Yao does not need to change his skill. He is far along on that. (Apparently he might not mean his physical strength.) I'll design new sets of Houston attack and defence built around him. Stars Francis and Mobleywill still be nucleus of the team. Obviously, Rudy and Yao will get along. In his mind, a new form of triangle attack and defence (Francis, Mobley and Yao) may emerge!
Sorry. That was kind of a joke, but when I see a thread with you bashing Rudy, and now I see you saying how good Rudy is at teaching young players, I'm a bit confused. Again,sorry.
