Through my observation of Rockets as a team, I have concluded that two biggest problems are Rudy and Hakeem. Rudy, the inept coach who should have traded Hakeem. Hakeem, a local legendary hero who is making 15 mil a year for plays that are way pass his prime. I know many of you would disagree with me in a second. But obviously this team is not going to be in the play offs this year AND next year (trades or not), without any current leaders instilling winning NOW. And don't tell me Francis is supposed to lead this team, or Bullard. I'm not waiting on trades to say that. So what do you think the most two urgent areas that need to be improved to make the playoffs THIS YEAR!!!
GIt Ruddy oF Ridy.. ------------------ I've posted so much that what I say must be true. The latest on Maurice Taylor
Allright, who the hell is impersonating HPee? Mango, call in the FBI (Fairly Bad Impersonating) lets get this case solved. ------------------ In order to be a success in life, you need 2 things: 1. Don't tell everything you know.
How about we trade heypartner for fabr. Lately partner has been making fabr look like popoye ------------------ Fun Police Says: 1. Posting in stupid threads is not FUN! 2. HP, sign me up, what can we get for either of them or maybe the best idea is if CD or you shop them as a package, who needs a coach and some veteran leadership????? I like your thinking Smeg ------------------ Discombobulation Imminent
HP, be careful what you say tonight. You know what happened to your "I'm mad as hell..." thread last night. Clutch gave us all a collective slap on the wrist! ------------------ Save our children from the TAAS test: TAAS test report card TAAS test fact sheet
figures, no one wants to talk serious at all. OK, maybe I was exaggerating about Hakeem to make a point. But go joke around in the hangout and post some pictures or something to the annoyance of Clutch. But don't annoy me when I'm trying to spark conversation around here. These are important questions. I am sorry you all can't see that.
heypee-Hakeem makes 16 mill this year, not 15. Do you need to plead temporary insanity and step down as the head of the Misinformation Police? Is this a stupid thread? Are you trying to play GM instead of your usual coach role? Am I asking you too many questions again? Carry On. ------------------ The Serious Police are watching. Follow the rules or be assimilated. Shandon is underrated.
HP Your observations and conclusions won't get the Rockets into the playoffs either. Maybe Les should hire you to talk to the other team before each game. With their brains numb, our victory will be assured. The first team to go undefeated, History in the making. I think its a better plan than yours. ------------------ "Never give a sucker an even break. Nor wisen up a chump."
This what I think what is going on; Rudy has been using a word, "loyalty", to get Les to drop any demands of COUNTABILITY on his coaching performance. As long as Les think there are large mass of Rudy groupies out there in Houston, he is not going to fire Rudy, because of he wants the arena votes from these people.
The biggest needs for the Rockets are a PF who can play D and rebound, a consistent scoring SF, a C who can score when needed. Francis and Mobley can score consistently, Cato provided little offense last year. Langhi may be the answer at SF. KT is young and may provide rebounding but he is not a good defensive player. I am hoping for a big year from Los. He brings a lot to the table when healthy. We also need some depth on the bench if we are to compete with the likes of the Fakers, Blazers and Spurs. Cato will most likely get into foul trouble trying to stop Shaq, Robinson/Duncan and Sabonis/Wallace. Collier could be a banger who is constantly in foul trouble. Wiz and Langhi will be potent at the 3 (if Langhi can handle his defensive chores. Shandon/Mobley and Francis/Moochie make for an explosive backcourt. No problems here. I have to disagree with you HPee, I believe the Rockets will get that 8th spot and make the playoffs. ------------------ In order to be a success in life, you need 2 things: 1. Don't tell everything you know.
I'll take disagreement. But you are actually agreeing. See how you mention everything is fine, but you don't mention Rudy or Hakeem. They are likely to be the problem. If Rudy let's them slack off, we will suck. And if Dream just glides through his tour season, the cell phones in the locker room will lead this team to nothing but ESPN highlight reels about individual performance. In my opinion, it is that type of on court athleticism that makes jump out of seat in awe of what you just saw. And that is what makes basketball truly fun to watch. But, I want to watch it in the playoffs. Turn off the damn cell phones.
HP, I was serious (weel in a smeg kind of way) If someone put an offer on the table for Dream right now i would take it but realistically do you think anyone will take him, I put it to you that no one will take Dream on for 16 million, think what a team would have to give up????? Smeg ------------------ Discombobulation Imminent
If Rudy let's them slack off, we will suck. Are you saying you want Bobby Knight as the coach? Rudy knows what it takes to win in the NBA. He can only teach them if they are willing to listen to him. The players are paid Big Bucks to win (or is it to put up good stats?) You can lead a horse to the river, but you can't make him drink. ------------------ In order to be a success in life, you need 2 things: 1. Don't tell everything you know.
I can understand getting rid of Hakeem, but Rudy? Who dod you want to replace Rudy, one of the assistant coaches; Larry Smith Jim Boylen Mike Wells or would you go with a different coach? Barkley's schedule is open. ------------------ www.Rockets2000.net
Can't we just trade Rudy and Hakeem for Riley and Mourning?? Seriously, I don't think that there's anything wrong with Rudy - he knows what he's doing. Hakeem - sure he's old, but if you want to just kick one of Houstons favourite sons out the door then it would seem that you set quite a dangerous precedent. ------------------
I hate to see people calling Hakeem to retire, because he really has a lot of productive ball talent left, may be for another 4-5 years. The sad fact is that Rudy and "partially" Hakeem himself still want to use D-I-T to Hakeem as the only way to use his talent. That is why he looks REALLY bad on the court, but it is no way a real reflection of his real game. He is actually a better player than Malone. But Malone does not try go one-on two, and he always look and also has helps around the corner. That is team ball, and it makes him look great. Same thing with Stockton. You see Rudy can only coach one-on-one basketall and nothing else, at least that is how it looks like for last four years. If you are not able to take your guy on isolation or double teams, you look automatically bad. That could include 65% all-star players in the leagues. Since Hakeem is no longer able to dominate, that should not make him a bad player. He is still better than Cato. But, that Rudy D-I-T is really doing him a number. I really believe that Rudy is the root of all Rockets' "ILL". As long as he can't or unwilling to coach a team basketball this team will keep "winning so little with so many". I hope Hakeem will have his happy days back, someday. [This message has been edited by CriscoKidd (edited August 23, 2000).]
I thought that Rudy's isolation plays were team ball plays?? The point is not just for the man to go one on one, but to cause a mismatch and either use that or force a double team which then means the ball can be swung and more teammates involved. ------------------
