The Rockets can't sign anybody. They are over the salary cap and have no remaining exceptions. Now, can you please give up this rant? Or do you just get off reading your own posts?

I'm sure we can sign him to a couple of 10-days? or non-guaranteed? I'm sure Denver was over the cap too, we should be able to do this.

I agree. let Mobley go on the IR andrecover completely, sign Rider to keep our team semi-competitive.

According to RealGM, Rider was signed "to an incentive-laden, minimum salary contract by the Nuggets" on September 29th. My guess is Denver had $1M exception available at that time. Rider is still counting $62k against the Nuggets cap after being waived.

From the CBA: "Ten-day contracts are available to be used starting January 5 (or the first business day thereafter) each season."

Rider can not be signed to a 10-day for almost a month and a player can only be signed to two 10-days max. As I said, we are over the cap and have no exceptions.

The Rockets have enough one-on-one players and he would just steal minutes from Torres, EG, TMo, etc. Why bother?

I don't about Rider but if they can do it they should. I think the only other option is to trade Kelvin Cato and Dan Langhi for anyone who cares. I hope the Rockets don't just play out the remaining 11 games before Steve gets back without making some kind of move. The current group is not cutting it.

Don't sign Rider. The guy is an ass, and doesn't deserve to be in the league. He has talent. He also has a horrible attitude, no work ethic, and he just doesn't 'get it'.

He has earned his unemployment. It's just sad that people are still talking about him. I'd rather sign that Dallas highschool kid, or someone that would be GRATEFUL for the chance to play in the NBA. Not Rider. He's not worth it.

Real class gater did you make up that get off to it comment yourself or did mommy help you.

I would say what i want online but I have too much class about it.
Of course your welcome to come by my seats and visit and I will tell you where to go.:D

I Do not care what type of attitude rider has fact remains he burns us everytime we play him. so why have someone burn us if their is a possible chance of getting him and let him play with us and burn the rest of the league!

Check your stats people screw attitudes a win is a win and a loss is not what we want...I support my team but I also question Rudy and Cd's judgement calls.

Although GATER might have been a little harsh, I know that I almost suffered apoplexy when I read your title.

So, I think he might have been caustic with you because of that....just a theory, but I could be wrong.

Thats why you are sitting in the seats, and not next to Rudy.

Guess who is a WORSE defensive player that Wiz?

    Thats right, Rider is.

Exactly what does Rider have to offer this team? How does he fit in?

Ok, I hate Rider and all, and I too dont believe he deserves to play in the NBA. But what does he offer?

About 1 million more offensive options than Wizard, Rice, Moochie, Langhi, Collier, Griffin, Torres, and Cato combined. If he wanted too, and put in the right situation he probably could average more than all those guys combined right now. And if signed for a minumum or exception (I know the rox dont have one) he would make less than every one of those guys.

Hasn't that been the story his entire career?

Rider is a very good playground player. He is not, nor will he ever be, a good NBA player.

OK, this thread title scared the crap out of me for a minute. It needs a "PLEASE, " in between "CD" and "SIGN", or before "RUDY"...

Hey TroyBarros are you related to Rider, or are you his wife or maybe he's son?

Sure as hell sounds like it to me...;)

    What could we possibly lose?

Let me rephrase...What could we possibly win?

the guy can score. In our ISO based system, Cuttino thrives on playground basketball. Rider would do great in this system too.

I dunno why you guys do this. YOU CUT HIM if it doesn't work out. Why are you so opposed?

Personally, all of these people that have "bad attitude" are simply misunderstood.

    I woujldn't mind a team consisting of

    Rodman
    Oakley
    Ruben Patterson
    Rider
    Rod Strickland

If these guys were given a motnh or 2 to get into whatever shape they want to play ball in, they would WOOP our team's ass, and also challenge our starting line-up. I hate everyone of these guys. All of em. But I do give props. I know that Rider would keep our team semi-competitive while we rest Cuttino, so why not?

Most people thought Rice would give us a million more offensive options then what we have but he hasn't. What makes you think Rider will be any better?

You surely don't recognize class. You have been overloading the BBS with a suggestion that other posters reject 10-1 and is not a possibility contractually.

Real class? Commenting about someones parents exhibits your level. Dude, keep your comments about my (or anyone else's) mother out of it. Mine passed away last March. If you want to take this off-line, e-mail and and I'll show you some class.

Gater-You are wrong if I'm not mistaken. I think every team can sign a player to the minimum, if they are over the cap. The NBA cap is not a hard cap, like it is in the NFL, where you have to cut players to add players.

The veteran minimum is 1 mill dollars. Any team can sign a guy to that minimum, provided that the player qualifies to be a "veteran".

The minimum for younger players is somewhere near 450,000.

So yes, the Rockets could sign Rider for the minimum, if they wanted. But, they wouldn't be able to sign him for anything more.

And, I don't think Rudy would want Rider on the club anyway.
