Everyone has an opinion about Hakeem's comments. But can we stop saying our offense is "only this and none of that". "That is not true." "We are versatile." We are not just Mobley 2 Shakes and Francis ISOs. If you say that, it is just for effect to make some exaggerated point. Besides, even if it were so, we don't take away 2 Shakes to give more dump it in, just because someone complains. That is how teams lose chemistry, by responding to complaints. Francis has enough to think about than worrying about complainers getting touches. Complaint-driven teams are failures, ALWAYS!!! Rudy clearly wants to seek out versatility. You learn situations, and remain versatile to respond with your best for that situation. So, like everyone else on the team; Hakeem needs to learn new tricks and find his role. He gets plenty of low post. What he is not doing is making the best of his other offensive situations. I don't really think he needs to though, because his defense is still so STELLAR.
That is an incorrect statement. He gets the DAMN ball. State your opinion correctly, countingcrow: "Just get him the DAMN ball MORE." Or say Rudy is a liar.
That is something that's bothered me (Hakeem complaining about low-post touches). It seems to me he's getting exactly the amount he's earned, if not more lately. Asking for more is simply asking for the game to be slowed down. I dunno, I might be wrong on this... But I think the fast pace is working. Let the guards run the floor. I wouldn't ask Rudy to slow it down again just to please Hakeem, especially when it's working. ------------------
hehe, treeman...you are always saying "I dunno, I might be wrong." Take some liberties. You've got a Rudy quote to back you up. Go ahead, so you are right! just stay away from the axeman, treeman. He's after you.
(chuckle) That makes me feel so much better... I'm indecisive on the boards because I want to promote thought. If that makes someone who wants to call himself 'axeman' (probably a prepubescent D&D fanatic) come after me, then so be it. NRA membership has its highs... All I really said this time was that the guards should run the show, and that the low post should take a secondary role. Hakeem should not be able to dictate strategy/tactics to Rudy - and the guards. Frankly, our roster can no longer handle an extended fight down low anymore. It's a new game now. ------------------
HeyPee, you've been kind of disappointing, lately. Instead of your usual interesting analysis of game play, you have been posting in this "Hakeem said this so we must post about it crap". He said this, but he was smiling and pausing and really only halfway meant it... no, he must have meant it 33.65%, because someone noticed two snickers...no, he meant it 100%, because it was reported in the paper, by God. He said not to completely abandon the post, but of course, he really meant he demands 45 iso's (5 Shakes). I know, therefore I must post! Oh, sorry. Got carried away. Back to the game. Every game, I start out thinking, I'm going to really analyze this game, so I can discuss it on the BBS with others who have done the same. Then the game starts and I get caught up WATCHING THE DAMN GAME, and it's over and I'm either happy or disappointed. BUT, after last night's game, (happy) I was thinking the Rockets showed a lot of flexibility and adaptivity. They seemed to swing the ball around the perimeter more and had more nice passes to backdoor cuts than I've seen. We had some penetration & kick out to open perimeter action. Dallas pretty effectively shut out Cat's isos & Rocks took advantage. Come on, give us some game analysis. ------------------
I'm losing focus Moe! But don't you like that quote. Shows some insight about the system. Rudy is so damn enigmatic when he talks about the system. "this and that"!! Come on Rudy. We want more analysis!
Hey treeman. I made all that up. For some reason, I've always thought it was funny we have a treeman and an axeman here.
More accurately: treeman better leave while he's alone (or treeman won't have a job anymore) Later... ------------------
Just sounds like coachspeak to me HP, even if it is encouraging. I think it would be more accurate if Rudy claimed the Rockets are trying to be more versatile. It's hard to run that many post plays when there is only one true post-up threat on the team. ***Warning: Will-ism dead ahead*** Mobley and Francis remain offensive lions and until another player is brought on board, the rest are vultures. Not that there is anything wrong with that. Yet. ------------------ snap crackle pop
I agree with Dream, he does need more touches, it would make the Rockets more diverse and harder to contain. Someone had a post titled... "Give Dream the Damn ball !!!" DaDakota ------------------ If Mankind evolved from Monkeys and Apes, then why are there still Monkeys and apes?
You give Dream the ball more in the low post, and he will be even harder to wave off out of there. We need the versatility to wave off everyone in the low post. We can't just expect to win by waving off only Mo and Shandon. That is not winning basketball.
Whatever happens from here Rudy will do whats best for both sides. ------------------ Ceo of the Walt Williams fan club. Web site coming soon atheistalliance.org
Think about Rudy's background. Think about the education level of most of his charges. Maybe that's why he communicates so well with the players. KISS. Doh. ------------------
I just saw one of axeman's posts. I can assure you (I think he'd agree) that we are NOT the same person. Admins, please confirm that? If that was not the source of confusion, then forgive me... Or beat me to a pulp. Whatever. I like a challenge. ------------------
