The man is ALL OVER the field. There isn't anything the guy can't do. He stuffs the run, blizes the QB, snuffs out screen passes, covers WR's.

He is the best defensive player in my lifetime. (I'm 19).

If you wanna talk all sports Shane Battier is the best college defensive player I have seen in my lifetime (19 years also).

No. Both Williams an Battier were good players, but to say they were the best defensive players in your lifetime? UNless your lifetime is TWO years, I don't think that is at all accurate.

Well OK my NCAA watching lifetime. About 8 years with about 5 years of paying attention watching. And no one has been close to Battier's equal that I have seen. How much more perfect position defense, charge taking, weak side blocking, ball stripping defense could one person do. Not much.

Without a doubt, Battier is the best on the ball defender for college hoops.

Rex Grossman is pretty good. He has thrown for 300 yds plus in every game so far this season. Also 31 TDs. Not bad for a sophmore.

Did you all see that stat posted during the UF-FSU game? UF has thrown 40 TD passes and given up only 3 TD passes.

Rex has the talent of Ken Dorsey, but just has unlimited studs playing around him. Put him on any other college team and everyone of his stats can easily be cut in half.

If you would really anchor your defense with Battier over Kenyon Martin (since ya'll are 19, I'll stick with recent ones) I have a bridge in the desert to sell you.

Roy Williams, the safety, is certainly the best college DB I have seen in quite a while.

Roy Williams, the WR is a great young talent and good player. But there are more great playing (and young) college receivers right now than I can remember. The Florida sophmore, both Tennesse starters, the Michigan fellow, the Pittsburgh fellow, the Miami receiver/returner, off the top of my head, all look awesume to me. Poli-Dixon isn't bad when healthy either and the Stanford baskteball player is unstoppable because he combines TE size and WR speed (might be like Tony Gonzalez). Tough job picking all-American WR this year. I would say Tennesse or Texas has the best collective groups though.

Well, admittedly I didn't see as much Kenyon as I did Battier, but I don't remember being nearly as awed by Kenyon's defensive abilities (not that he wasn't great) as I was by Battier's. Battier's intelligence and abilities simply amazed me everytime I watched a Duke game.

    kidrock,

why dont you actually think before you post. UT's qb's suck, my a**, im a longhorn student and ive followed Texas football since i was a little kid to break away from the ugh, aggies, in my family but to tell me chris simms and major applewhite suck, you are either braindead or have one of the worst abilties in judging talent that exists or just like to piss people off.

Look i cant think of a team with this kind of qb talent except one and thats florida with grossman and berlin. Simms last yr did look on to his wrs too much and didnt live up to his hype, part of that i believe was the media and majority of the fans crying for Major after every mistake. Now this yr and towards the tailend of last yr(A&M, Oregon) chris has rapidly ascended to be a very good qb and pass major easily, no small task considering major is one fine college QB himself. Chris has had one "bad" game all yr vs OU and he threw 2 picks(yes it said 4), but one was caused by a def player hitting his arm(good play by OU's williams) as he threw and the other was a last gasp hail mary. The guy is playing with extreme confidence and doesnt have to be worry about being pulled and it shows, since then hes been on a hell of a touchdown binge, and yes cedric benson helps tremendously. As for major this guy could start for a majority of teams in D1 football and lead them to bowl games, yes his 1st yr having ricky helped but the 2nd season he did excellent with a mediocre tailback in hodges mitchell.

Right now comparing UT to the OU's, etc of the world we are playing as well as anyone in the nation and truth be told from watching repeated OU's games esp last week, we shouldve beat them and that is frustrating since wed be heading for the roses. However, i think nebraska will beat OU again in the title game and we will see a Texas-Florida Sugar Bowl, where we will be happy to prove to the nation we have arrived, and a very likely preview of next yrs NC game as both of us are loaded, and yes I know about our strength of schedule, but its time i think.

Dvauthrin-Settle down Beavis. I didn't say UT QB's currently suck. What I meant was that UT QB's don't do crap in the NFL.

I know you'll get into a fit over me saying that, but it would be hard for you to name me a UT QB in the NFL.

Actually, there has been some talk lately that the matchup in the Sugar Bowl might be Texas vs. Tennessee. Since Florida has been to the Sugar five times since 1991, I think, there are rumors that Florida and Tennessee may swap places and have Florida to go the Orange and Tennessee the Sugar. (assuming Florida beats Tennessee)

My prediction: OU wins the Big 12 and goes to the Rose Bowl, NU loses one of the next two games and goes to the Cotton, Texas to the Sugar

well thats different, kidrock and i apologize for the harshness of the response, i was under a different interpretation-i think simms will break that mold, however in another season after he comes out(next yrs draft not this one)

Rex Grossman is a great QB. Yes he benifits from the system, the teacher, and his recievers. But he still has to perform. Florida has been looking the next great college QB since Danny W. Just because he chose to go to the best QB school in the nation, you can't hold that against him.

As far as UF switching with UTenn. Why would they do that? I would love to watch UF spank UTX. But how does UTX end up in the sugar?

UF just needs a loss from Miami and they are in the Rose Bowl.
