Man, I'm with you. Somebody get JVG's finger off the free agent button. Charlie Ward WAS your ideal point guard - about 5 years ago. Now, he is just some scrub looking for a job.
Ward is only a marginal improvement over Mark Jackson. I wish we can get someone better. He will get lit up every night and is too slow to do much.
I could see him having a problem with it. I've been on the defense for Les and CD at times, but this better not be our next step after obtaining T-Mac.
They can't be realistically looking at this guy to be are starter could they? Could there be something in the works, like many have assumed, that we would need a veteran backup like Ward. It just seems too strange.
at least its not this guy i can live with a cheap ex knick for a year as long as they are agressive during free agency next year.
Count me in the minority, but I'm happy with this transaction if it goes down. I think Ward is still servicable and Lue is at least decent - with Yao and McGrady, that is all that is required. The best thing about this, though, is that we didn't overpay for a mediocre talent and can look at upgrading our frontcourt (Swift or for full MLE anyone or Tsitki for part of the trade exception? Ostertag if he can be had at a reasonable price?) Could this also say something about the Rockets' opinion regarding Gaines' development? Maybe they feel he is ready to back up Lue now and Ward could be an inexpensive insurance policy. Time will tell.
I didn't want Ward last season and I more vigorously don't want him now. Charlie Ward couldn't get off of San Antonio's bench because he was playing 3rd string to Jason Hart. Hart was left unprotected and will likely start at PG for for the Bobcats. That ought to tell us something about Ward. If it's true (and I strongly hope it's not), we better be using the $1M exception and not wasting any of the MLE because Gaines will be moving Ward to 3rd string just as Hart did in SA.
my predeciton may come true. He is not that bad, maybe he didnt just fit in SA system.
