http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/bk/bkn/7522784.html i am not sure if it has been posted or not. if it did, please lock it. 2 interesting points i got from reading the article. 1) dm sensed the change is must after failed to get melo. he didn't think this team would go any where. it's time for future. 2) ra didn't like the trades. he wanted to win NOW. he still believe he is great enough to make this team a playoff team. they are not on the same page.
I don't think they are so far apart as all that. I think Adelman has long known and been fine with the fact that Morey is trying to swing a big trade for a superstar. He understands that winning as much as possible and ideally making the playoffs makes our players look better and a trade more likely. So, Morey is telling him to win, and that's what he's trying to do. But, failing to get Anthony or Williams or any other big name, Morey executes his contingency plan, which is to take some bets like T-Will and Thabeet, and trade some vets we'd lose in free agency for some assets. He still wants to make the playoffs this season, but he's not going to sacrifice the future for it, with good reason. Unfortunately for Adelman, these moves make it harder for him to execute on his part of the deal -- making the playoffs. I can understand his frustration when he's told to win and then the guys he relies on to get there are taken away. Probably isn't happy with the locker-room uncertainty Morey creates either. I'm sure he understands the logic, but can't be happy with the situation. As soon as the franchise player is obtained, I think 90% of the tension between Morey and Adelman would disappear. The asset talk would subside. and trades would be made for the present instead of the future.
Good luck finding a coach in the league who would trade one of the best team players and a consummate professional (insert Clyde pic) for a project that is as raw as they come. From a coach's point of view, that trade is as bad as it gets. But the organization is at a point where it has to gamble.
Tell them both to get over it. DMs trades worked and Adelmans coaching worked. Let DM trade who he has to and do his job and then Adelman do what he has to with Daryls players. Morey has done a great job of removing guys from the team Adelman would have kept giving minutes to. Morey has proven Adleman wrong in his moves. Adelman has coached as good as he can with the circumstances of Yao and Tmac hanging over this team still. Which was created by Les Alexander and not Morey or Adelman. So now that the handcuffs will POTENTIALLY be off with Yao? They can both do their jobs better now.
I agree with Señor Valdez. Morey always has "contingecy plans." AggNRox, please be more descriptive of what the thread will contain in your title. There are TOO MANY "Rox Stories" to differentiate... it will help us and the mods in determining what has and hasn't been posted.
The Rockets are rebuilding, and Rick doesn't want a youth movement, he wants team oriented veterans, as all coaches do.
it's obvious to me the gap btw ra and dm can't be bridged. dm determined to go rebuild and rm wanted to add his stats before he retires. the consequece of ra departing may not be bad as other ppl are thinking. this team has no core (one or two superstars) to build on. to rebuild this team looks like unavoidable. bulls had been bad for many years until they somehow got a potential great young player and a potential great coach of next generation.
I don't believe the hype with DMorey. He couldn't get Melo, DWill and all he got was Thabeet and Dragic. I like Dragic, don't get me wrong, but that's not way to build a championship team. On the other hand, R. Adelman did suprising well considering the team he had. Ultimately, we need to keep both and they need to learn to get along or at least be on the same page. LET GO ROCKETS!
I'm not saying I was against the trade, just looking at it from Adelman's perspective. Battier needed to go, and I thought it was great that we got a 1st round pick for Battier ... anything Thabeet can become is icing on the cake (albeit expensive icing).
I was in favor of trading Battier, but not for Thabeet. I'm in favor of rebuilding, but like you I can see things from Adelman's perspective.
Unless your related to Nostradamus or a real life Marty McFLY I predict your wrong.....DM is a stats guy and you don't trade your most efficient scorer unless its a sure thing (Lebron) or you get a proven NBA talent...but my crystal ball broke so who knows?
