People keep complaining that we are getting older and that we are one of the oldest teams in the league so I thought it would be interesting to find out how old we actually are.

    Starting 5

    36 Jon Barry SG 6-5 210
    24 Reece Gaines PG 6-6 205 1/7/81
    32 Juwan Howard F 6-9 230 2/7/73
    26 Tracy McGrady SG 6-8 210 5/24/79
    25 Yao Ming C 7-6 310 9/12/80
    39 Dikembe Mutombo C 7-2 261 6/25/66
    29 Scott Padgett PF 6-9 240 4/19/76
    32 Bob Sura SG 6-5 200 3/25/73
    29 Maurice Taylor PF 6-9 255 10/30/76
    35 Clarence Weatherspoon F 6-7 270 9/8/70
    35 David Wesley SG 6-1 203 11/14/70

    Injured Reserve

    23 Andre Barrett PG 5-10 172 2/21/82
    29 Ryan Bowen SF 6-9 220 11/20/75
    35 Charlie Ward PG 6-2 190 10/12/70

    average age 30!

is that too old? your thoughts. I threw this together so not 100% accurate.

30.6 if you want to be an ass about it...

but I think it as more to do with the lack of athleticism that hurts us more than the ages. other than Mutombo being 85 we're not that old...

Sadly if you take out our only two valuable players (T-mac and Yao) that number jumps up another 2 or 3 years.

That is pretty old - considering that none of our over-30 guys are really any good (I like Mutombo though).

Also - Andre Barret and Reece Gaines are our only two young guys (outside of big 2). It's not like we have a Johnathon Bender or Al Jefferson - someone who might become a star.

TMAc and Yao could be playing with 10 different guys a couple of weeks from now.

Tonight was a perfect example of why the Rockets are now "too old."
