Figured to get out of all the T-Mac threads, I would make a thread for the guys who the Rox still have rights to and what they are doing now...Note:some of these guys will never ever play for Rox but we still hold their rights since we drafted them Venson Hamilton C- Nebraska Drafted 2nd Round 99- Just released from Real Madrid and had played their for a few years as a backup Brad Newley SG/SF- Austrailia Drafted 2nd Round 07- Played in Rox summer league ball in 07. Playing for Panellinios in Greece and is averaging 10.6 points a game and 35% behind the line. He is also and all-star their and is playing for the Austrailian National Team. Sergio Llull PG/SG- Spain Bought rights from Denver for 2.25 mil. in 09 draft- Starting for Real Madrid and is signed by them until 2011. He is averaging 9 ppg in 7 games this season in 19 mins per game and is shooting 44% from the 3 and 2.7 assist a game Sergei Lishouk C- Ukrainian acquired in trade for Rights to Malick Badiane and Cash-Playing for Azovmash Mariupol in the Ukraine- Not able to finding any further information Maarty Leunen PF- Oregon drafted 08 second round- Played in Rox summer league in 09 and is currently playing for Cantu in Italy. Had a hard time getting information on him also Kyle Hill PG- Eastern Illinois drafted 01 second round- Last played in Bosnia in a lower league getting backup minutes Axel Hervelle-SF/PF Belgium traded James White for his rights from Denver- Playing for Real Madrid getting 20 mins per game averaging 5 points per game. Has been playing for Real Madrid for a few years now Frederic Weis-C rights came from NY for Patrick Ewing JR.- Notorious for being drafted over Ron Artest and for being posterized by Vince Carter in the Olympics. Is currently playing in the Baleraic Islands in Spain for Menorca Bàsquet. Look up the dunk video on you tube of him getting posterized Lior Eliyahu- SF Drafted 2nd round 2006 by Magic but acquired by Rox- Playing for Caja Lobaral and is signed though 2013. Is an allstar in the top European league and is playing with Tiago Splitter.
I knew about Leunen, Newly, Llull and Eliyahu, but I didn't even know we held the rights to the rest of those guys. Sounds like Llull is doing very well. That's promising.
Basically, the only international prospects with any trade value are Sergio Llull and Lior Eliyahu. Leunen and Newley, however, may be decent roster filler down the road for the Rockets. Depending on how trades and the draft unfold, I could easily see Leunen filling the "Brian Cook shooting big 12th man" role for the Rockets next season.
Newley is possibly a bench player... LLull could definetly be a good player in the nba Leunen- could be a could bench player as well.. Eliyahu- he has a unique playing style that is probably not quite suited for the nba but he is very good and exciting to watch
Leunen is indeed playing for NGC Cantu in the top league in Italian basketball. His stats for this year so far: Games: 11 MPG: 33.5 PPG: 10.2 FG%: 60.5% 3PT%: 36.4% FT%: 85.7% RPG: 4.8 APG: 1.6 SPG: 1.0
I am a big Sergio Llull fan, really think this guy could be a very nice player in the association. http://www.eurobasket2009.org/en/ci...9le2.season_2009.roundID_6328.teamID_362.html
T-Mac is averaging 29.3 points and 9.8 rebounds (0 assists) playing NBA2K9 on his Playstation. At $23 million, not quite a bargain, but insurance is covering 80%, so it could be worse. =)
thanks for your effort. posts like this bring a breath of fresh air to the forum. appreciate your work

That's about as random and unfounded as me saying I think AZnoob could be our DD replacement........
I don't mean he is as good as Scola, but that he is about as ready to play the High post offense in the NBA as he is going to get. And he plays a lot like Luis....smart, moves to open space and good at boxing out. If the Rockets have to trade Luis as part of any deal to get better, they might be counting on Luenan as his replacement.....or at least in the mix on the roster next year. DD
From that video, and what I've seen before, I worry that Lulz is basically just a good set shooter. He has (sorry!) a Stockton-esque reliable long-range shot. But he always looks a little slow to me.
