Looking at the games so far, i have to admit, Battier does so much extra that do not show up on the stats. The team misses his defense on transition D. Artest need him to get some rest. Tmac/Barry need him to cover his defensive assignments. Yao no longer have someone to take charge for him/protect the pain. Landry and Scola needs him to help blocks out or tip backs to take down more rebounds. AB lacks someone to pass the ball on the 3p line. Rafer plays like he lost his soul mate (Battier?) Please shane, comeback soon, the team needs you. Rox only able to win the first 3 games with a monster 4th quarter. Rox the title pretenders, flirting with the possibility of losing to teams like thunder and griz? And almost losing to the mavs?
and to think that there are some clutch fans here who are proposing we use him in a trade to get a better pg.
One man can only do so much, when Battier comes back, don't expect the defense to get a whole better once he comes back. It takes a whole lot more than Battier to get this whole team more focused on defense. We still no leader on the court which is showing, though i have noticed Artest is talking a lot and of course Brent Barry. It is hard to see if they're talking on defensive and even if they do it doesn't show because there's no help on D, nobody's reacting and there is no focus on transition D like under JVG. I don't think RA nor any1 on the team is really worried about the lack of mentality; to get the RA motion offense working or to get focused on defense JVG syle. It seems everybody's okay with what we're doing but so far the Rockets haven't really stood out, they're mediocre right now in both O and D. Something's got to be done, besides Battier coming back.
