Voting is based on front court, back court, overall offence, inside offence, outside shooting, overall defence, post defence, perimeter defence, bench, chemistry...and then individual match-ups (starting line up only) If you score a point for each, that is 15 points total, there should be a winner decided. Fadeaway: PG: Gary Payton SG: Reggie Miller SF: Chris Mullin PF: Tim Duncan C: David Robinson Bench: Chris Paul Shawn Marion Shawn Kemp VS Jumpman: PG: Tracy McGrady SG: Michael Jordan SF: Scottie Pippen PF: Dennis Rodman C: Dwight Howard Bench: Mark Price Pau Gasol Anfernee Hardaway
Firstly, once I got the chance to draft Pippen and Rodman I knew that I would draft an improved version of the 1996 Chicago Bulls: Code: 1996 Chicago Bulls: Team JumpMan: F - Scottie Pippen F - Scottie Pippen F - Dennis Rodman F - Dennis Rodman C - Luc Longley C - Dwight Howard G - Michael Jordan G - Michael Jordan G - Ron Harper G - Tracy McGrady 6 - Toni Kukoc 6 - Pau Gasol 7 - Steve Kerr 7 - Mark Price 8 - Jud Buechler 8 - Anfernee Hardaway We got the tall pointguard-less backcourt that could switch off on essentially every matchup that they would face, but this time they have an elite athlete in McGrady instead of the broken down Ron Harper. Then we have a younger Rodman and Howard who provides a vast improvement in help defense and rebounding. Off the bench, in place of the Croatian Sensation, we got Pau Gasol who does not provide the three-point shooting of the former, but does provide inside scoring, some defense, rebounding, and can play stretches at center. Mark Price could do so much more than be the three-point marksman, late free-throw shooter off the bench that Kerr was, and, finally, Hardaway can jump in and play either guard position. This team is more versatile than the Bulls because of McGrady and Hardaway who can duplicate Jordan and Pippen's roles on offense; Howard, who can score in the low-post; and Gasol, who can score with his back to the basket, extend the defense with his range, and pass from either the low or high-post. Mark Price was one of the best shooters ever, just like Kerr, but unlike Kerr he can make plays for his teammates. Jordan will not score as much on this team as he did on the Bulls, but he will still take the glory as the team's clutch scorer/playmaker. TEAM DEFENSE: The Bulls' defense was already great with older players in the backcourt and immobile centers, it could be lethal with McGrady and Howard added to the mix. The noticeable issue here, I admit, is guarding quick pointguards, but it wasn't something that beat the Bulls then and I don't expect it to beat them here either - remember, it didn't affect Magic's team - with better perimeter defenders and better big help defenders. I also expect this team's defense to lead to plenty of transition opportunities - remember, the traps Harper, Jordan, and Pippen would set? - because it's backcourt creates turnovers and Howard's help defense will do the same. REBOUNDING: I don't see many teams, if any, that are capable of matching the rebounding duo of Rodman and Howard. When you add to that duo a solid rebounder like Gasol and above-average rebounding from Pippen and Jordan you got an advantage over most teams in this league. In addition, since the triangle offense is not fast-paced, you can commit more players to defensive rebounding; this team will not give up many second chance points. CHEMISTRY: I will admit to possible chemsitry issues with McGrady and Howard, but I just don't think they will appear because those two will not be on the same pedestals they were on in their leagues, and therefore their egos will not be out of control. I just don't see McGrady or Howard acting like babies with Jordan around as the clear alpha dog, but I do see their talent appearing - this goes with pretty much every team in this league, IMO -. The triangle will help out, too, because it is an equal opportunity offense - just not in the clutch, when everybody knew it was Jordan's time -. Good lord, man. It's just a fun little basketball vote-off. I won't be typing up a huge essay, and will just let people make up their own minds.
I agree, overkill. Keeping what I wrote during the draft though. Did the same for the other league and it's just about my team.
I will do the format we all agreed on... front court: Fadeaway back court: Jumpman overall offence: Fadeaway - (JumpMan don't have any outside shooter on his front court. Dwight, Rodman won't do it. Pau can, but his accuracy is meh..) inside offence: Fadeaway outside shooting: Fadeaway overall defence: JumpMan - Very solid D right there... post defence: Fadeaway.. Duncan, Rob perimeter defence: Jumpman, no question bench...Fadeaway chemistry: JumpMan Individual Matchups PG: Gary Payton SG: Reggie Miller SF: Chris Mullin PF: Tim Duncan C: David Robinson VS Jumpman: PG: Tracy McGrady SG: Michael Jordan SF: Scottie Pippen PF: Dennis Rodman C: Dwight Howard 9-6.. When you're asked to list the top 100 point guards, are you going to put T-mac on your list?.. Just saying..
As point guards, definitely. Gets close as players, since the point guard position isn't what it normally is in a triangle offense.
The team with Jordan has enough absolute will and leadership by default. Yeah, Payton can play D on either T-Mac or Jordan or even Pippen. I would take Prime CP3 over GP any day
