ok, so I have a history of writing Roses are Red poems for Valentines day. It's tough, you have to keep one upping yourself. The only rules are that you are restricted to 4 lines and the first must by "Roses are Red". and something must rhyme. The first one I wrote was to my sister when she was depressed about a boy. I was going over to her house on VDay for a dinner party put on by her roommate to cheer her up. Half way there I thought, **** I have nothing to give her, and drop into a grocery story to get at least one rose....none....everything is sold out. except there is this miserable looking stick and soil wrapped in plastic. It was a rose bush yet nothing but a stick and a label that said "Don Juan." I'm thinking, can I really show up with a stick in soil? I got nothing else, so I buy it and sit in the car, mere blocks from her house...then it came to me. Roses are Red In a vase they are dead So for your Valentines Day Lawn A sprouting Don Juan and that's the history. Some guys don't get it, but all girls do. My sister and her roommates told that story many times. Now I'm expected to write these Roses are Red poems for girls each year. But it is tough topping that Don Juan one. Does anyone else write silly Roses are Red poems. After roughly 15 yrs of doing this, I could use some new material...lol
