Charley Rosen (ESPN.com) has already set two NBA teams on fire. First there was the "Kobe is selfish" stuff that started the whole Lakers intrigue, and now it looks like he got the Orlando Magic at each other's throat that eventually got Ho Grant kicked out of the team. I admit his stuff is pretty amusing and makes for a good soap opera, but I wonder how long before his sources start avoiding him like a plaque. I hope he doesn't start stirring trouble in Rocketland... His stuff on Murph and Rudy was hilarious, though, highly recommend it if you have not read it yet. http://espn.go.com/page2/s/rosen/021204.html
He's got a column today bashing Lebron James. Veering close to self-parody at this point, IMO. Not to mention giving new meaning to the term "player hater."
His columns aren't that bad. If you read them the whole way through you can see that he's not bashing anyone. He's just pointing out things that he sees. The Bryant and T-Mac articles actually compliment them. The James article just says that James isn't God.
I really like his articles. They seem more honest than most other writers' articles...but if I was a player, I would stay away from him because it seems a bit like they tell him stuff in confidence and he uses it.
Rosen and Phil Jackson are good friends, I think they did some time together as coaches in the CBA. I know Rosen cowrote with Jackson one of his books.
