CHICAGO – Reach out to him, Chicago management had pleaded with Derrick Rose(notes). LeBron doesn’t think you want him here. That’s what they told the Bulls’ franchise star in July, a request that was met with dutiful respect from Rose. Sure, he told the Bulls. I’ll shoot him a text. Rose is polite this way, honoring obligations and orders from above.

Nevertheless, it would change nothing. To LeBron James, the message was unmistakable, sources said: I can take you or leave you – and that could never sell the needy King. William Wesley never did get his wish of LBJ chasing Michael Jordan’s ghosts in Chicago. Dwyane Wad recruited James relentlessly to Miami, and ultimately had to hand the Heat over to the Royal Pain.

Rose didn’t want LeBron taking the ball out of his hands, nor respect out of the room. Eventually, Rose reached out, but only out of a sense of duty. Rose didn’t want James, nor did Rose particularly want Wade to make a Chicago homecoming. During early July, Rose shut himself in the gym and worked on his game. The soap opera bored him.

“If they wanted to come here, they would’ve come here,” Rose told Yahoo! Sports Saturday night.

Gotta love him. He wanted to do it himself, refusing to beg for a player that most of the nba worships.

So Rose don't play games. Kewl. And very Jordanesque.

Apples and oranges. If Lebron and Wade were strangers, then the comparison makes sense. But they were friends.

Rose didn't have that kind of relationship with them.

Not saying one is better than the other, but different circumstances..

Rose is young. If after 7-8 failed seasons he still wants to be the man, then we can call him Jordanesque, at least in mind and spirit. But, as of now, the comparisons are absurdly premature.

do it himself? you make it see like the bulls didn't want those guys lol. lebron/wade weren't close with rose at all. it didn't matter if rose wanted to play with them or not. the big 3 formed b/c of their close relationships and they always wanted to play together.

and rose cannot do it himself. his team is pretty stacked outside of the SG position.

I hope chicago beats miami in the playoffs so that rose can look at lebron and be like " you picked the wrong team."

Rose beats a lebron-less heat team and now he gets all this praise at the expense of lebron?

    Makes sense /sarcasm

Bulls are only one more loss than Heat, with Boozer injured half of the time. That deserves some kudos.

I'm rooting for the Bulls to come out of the East.

I like Rose's temperament, and I'm a fan of Thibadeau too.

Noah has been out a month as well. They just need to trade for solid playmaking 2 guard and they'll be set..

Barkley dropped Derron William to number 2 at the PG position and put Rose at number 1 on his personal list.

I'm there too. Today was the Bulls 41st game, exactly half a season. It's been long enough.

I agree D-Rose is the best PG in the NBA.

i still contend it's chris paul. how does that hornets team be 10 games above .500 is beyond me, and in the west no less.

d-rose, however, does deserve his hype.
