I heard a show on talk radio about this but don't really know about it's truths. can someone confirm or deny this? Mohammed the Muslim profit was supposedly inspired with visions from God during sex with a 9 year old girl? Is this true, is that in the Khoran? DD
where's jamma34? He has a link to a Muslim website in his sig... I read the site, of course I don't agree with it but I won't start that arguement here.
Narrated Aisha that the prophet married her when she was six years old and he consummated his marriage when she was nine years old."Vol. 7:64
you're right...i've never heard that he received a revelation while consumating this relationship...but i don't think anyone actually denies that it was consumated as she was 9 years old.
DD, Nah, that isn't true. The whole story is pretty long, but the condensed version is that he was searching for answers cuz he couldn't buy into the religion that was practiced at the time, so he'd go into the mountains and sit in a cave and think to himself ... that's when the angel Gabriel came to him and showed him the vision, or whatever you want to call it. He was married to Aisha way after he had the revelation. He got the "vision" when he was married to his first wife, Khadijah. The consumation of the marriage at 9 is correct.
Before we rush to judge, keep in mind that those were simpler times. People got married earlier back then than they do now.
Is this the latest and greatest translation of the bible? Didn't they used to call it The Living Bible? I wonder how subtly different this version is comapred to the King James version that I grew up with?
I'm not sure if this is the 6th verse: "Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. " Is this what you were saying, or is the 6th something else? Thanks
When i have access to a computer I like ot use biblegateway.com. Here is their explanation for your question: Q. Why are there so many versions of the Bible-- are some better than others? A. Different Bible versions represent the efforts of scholars to translate original manuscripts in a way that communicates effectively to a given to audience or people group. Although they may differ in language or diction, the versions we offer on the Bible Gateway all agree on major points of theology.
