Confession: I already have been. The Rockets have been my favorite team in all of sports since I was a kid, but I love the NBA so much, it's led me to root for other players over the years. I loved his story coming out of high school, and "Lebron's team" has been my second favorite team ever since. (But I'm still pissed at him for his China take, I obviously wanted him to lose against the Rockets this year and rooting for the Lakers in this Finals makes me want to puke sometimes.)
The notion presented in the OP is not even accurate . JVG can still take interviews and talk about it on air if he wanted to, just like Steve Kerr did when he took the GSW job and was calling playoff games
As someone inside southern California I have never rooted for the Lakers and never will. Glad I have a soul lol
Just saw Danny Green’s wife and kid getting death threats from Lakers fans for missing that series ending shot. Looks like I am being selfish just wanting a victory for JVG. This is about our “souls”.....GO HEAT!!!!!!!!!!!
I didn't know JVG was a Heat fan, only that his bro Stan used to coach them. You could say the Heat are one of the favorite teams of Lebron. If he didn't play them, he'd want them to win too.
I've been seeing the post from people I know that are Lakers fans. They have a petition going around to not let him get a ring if they win.
@BimaThug Can Lakers wait to re-sign AD and have the 9 mil MLE or does the cap hold not allow that? Lakers will add a player next year by trade with a Danny Green + Kuzma package. Wont be a star cuz that’s not much of a package but they’d be willing to take a decent player on a bad contract. Lebron won’t let the team stand still and not give himself the best chance to win more in his final years. And they lose absolutely nothing by trading Green and Kuzma is not that important. Only player that makes sense is Kevin Love. Danny Green + Kuzma + a couple more fillers (they’d like to keep KCP if possible). I know people will say why would they do that but if you look deeper it’s feasible and it makes sense. Keep same team but add Love and a couple veterans and whoever they grab with MLE. Lebron wants to catch that repeat. He knows they can’t stand still next year to repeat. Lebron will do anything for a chance at a three peat. And LA will pay whatever it takes in luxury tax. Hield will be traded this summer but got to assume Sacramento can do better than just Kuzma for him. EDIT: there’s also option of someone being sign and traded to them for Danny Green and Kuzma like say Gallo. OKC would do that if it gets them Kuzma I would think.
It's sad Lebron joins Lakers and suddenly they get AD and win a ring while being the worst 3pt shooting team in the league. Meanwhile we've been doing the same experiment for nearly a decade with a top 5 player and still failing.
newb Rockets fans don't remember the JVG era @Jontro @Reeko I wonder if they knew that the Rockets uniforms were red
