    Aaron Brooks
    Drafted: 26
The T-Mobile Rookie of the Month finished seventh in scoring and sixth in assists in the NBA Summer League. His quickness is obvious, and he also proved that he can shoot the rock, hitting 13-of-31 from downtown. But one wonders if his playing time took a hit with the Rockets' acquisition of Steve Francis.

I like Brooks, but remember nba.com had Novak at #10 going into the regular season last October.

Yeah, he wasnt really advertised to have much of a impact this season anyways. thats the bad thing about being a good rookie, on a good team.

Go Brooks, your suprising Vegas Summer was the first spark of hope this off-season.

Maybe he is the good luck guy???

I agree but it will be good for his confidence and it can only make him better. It makes you look smart when you draft a guy 26 and everyone hates you, then suddenly he becomes SLs best player.

Wait's over that would be me :D

He's still unproven and undersized ... I'll eat crow once he shows it on the court on a NBA level. It's not his offense that worries me it's his defense ala Novak ( Probably the best shooter on our team but can't play a lick of D this isn't HORSE )

That block of a big with his elbow in the summer league is what sold me on this kid. He has got hops and quickness that will make up some of his height deficiency. I think this kid is going to be a player in the NBA.

Brooks will NOT be a major contributor this year.....................

But will be when we go for back-to-back championships next year. :)

Well defensively....I wouldn't worry too much. The smaller/quicker guards gives just as much trouble when pressuring the ball and that's what Brooks do. Playing against guys like Earl Boykins...it's very hard bringing the ball up without leading with your shoulder...enables the point to see the floor like he wants to, but this is no secret.

More than likely you'll eat that crow, but it's a good thing right? lol Hey...everyone should be routing against you lol

    Count me in.

I admit this pick has already turned out much better than I anticipated - but I'll complete my flipflop after real proof shows up. I was hoping for Davis, but it may turn out that this was a better pick.

    We'll see.

You got some points but wasn't like 90% of this board furious with Rafers D on guards like Deron/CP3/Steve Nash?? I'm not saying he has to contain them to 30% shooting and 3 assist a game but can you seriously say he can hold his own?? I'm hoping he is 50% of what Nate Robinson is as a player today.. But Nate came into the league with allready that type of bulk and allready that strong. I'm really hoping that AB can pan out and not be another Mike Wilks but hey as a 3rd string PG that ain't bad at all..

but all these elite PGs, Deron/CP3/Steve Nash, will have to chase AB on the court because AB can shoot , can drive then finish or kick out. You cannot let a shooter+playmaker open. Best defense is offense.

I thought people freaked out too much about the pick and think we should wait until the regular season starts until we make any judgments about either of the picks. I felt that way the day after the draft and I feel that way now. One summer league does not a good (or bad) pick make.

GREAT to see Brooks at #1 but notice who's #4, the Big Baby himself.

I love everything Morey has been doing but I'm wondering if Glen Davis might have been a better pick then Landry.

    Any thoughts???

i really think brooks will be in the rotation. he has all the PG skills: great shooter, great penetrater, and great court vision. adelman loves this guy and he knows hes the purest PG we have. trust me he'll get minutes.

Ditto. I'm still worried about front office's ability to judge talent. Brooks was an Adelman pick, while Landry was Morey's.
