My All Rookie 1st team: PG-Joe Johnson (11ppg,6apg) C-Eddie Griffen (15ppg,11.5rpg) PF-Rodney White (18ppg,7rpg) SG-Jason Richardson (13.5ppg,3apg) SF-Shane Battier (11ppg,6rpg) Final Rookie of the Year Talley(in order) 1.Rodney White 2.Eddie Griffen 3.Joe Johnson This is how I think it'll end up.I also think Gasol will be in for a VERy dissapointing year. ------------------ One of the newest members of the New Jersey Nets fan club.

Griffin at center and he has a higher RPG in the NBA than he did in college? We can only hope. I think Gasol and Brown will be in there instead of Johnson and Battier. Those IMO are the top 5 rookies. If I had to pick a rookie PG, I'd go with Tinsley. ------------------
SLAMN, Gasol and Brown are nowhere near NBA ready, they both have a lot of developing to do. Brown may not even see more than 20 min. a night if Barkley and Ewing come to join Jordan, if he comes back. Battier will at least be on the All-Rookie First Team, guaranteed, barring injury. This guy is the most NBA ready player in the draft, and frankly, I think he will be better than most people realize. He is more than just a role player. People have been clowning on him, because his "upside" isn't great. That doesn't really matter, because he is already a complete player. He has outstanding leadership, stamina, help defense, hustle, work ethic and character. He has a great shooting touch too. True, his ability to create his own shot is shaky, but with zone defenses coming back, he can play like he did in college. Finding holes in the D, and hitting shots. He won't be a superstar, but he will be a solid star player in this league. ------------------ "I look kind of dumpy. Look at my butt. And what kind of shoes do they have me wearing? Griffen probably won't score 15 a game considering that he'll be 3rd option behind Stevie and Cat (possibly 4th option behind Mo?) - but I'd say 12-13ppg is more like it. I think he's a strong chance at ROY if he racks up big rebounding numbers (8-9rpg) and blocks 2-2.5 shots per game. ------------------
I have no doubt that the ROY will be Battier. He is the only player I see as truly ready (from the beginning) who will be ready to play. I also expect Richardson to also be strong as well as our own Griffen who will alot of quality minutes.
This is the All Rookie Team. It isn't an actual team, its just the 5 best rookies. On last years team, Mike Miller was a SG and KMart was a center, that doesn't mean they play that position. Also, I dont think Battier will ever be a huge contributor. All he is is a great role player and a defensive stopper, which is what he'll be the rest of his NBA career. ------------------ One of the newest members of the New Jersey Nets fan club.
Super- I think Battier would be a great role player on a good, established team, but I really expect him to be the leader of the Grizz (or express or whatever their name is) very early on. He will never put up big numbers but I fully expect him to play 30-32 minutes each night, 14-15 points, 6 boards, 3 assists. In addition the press (and the NBA) already loves they guys ince he is so well spoken and is very marketable. I would be shocked if he doesn't win ROY next year. That doesn't mean he will be the best player in the class but it is hard to tell how all the 18-20 y/o kids will react to the NBA.
I don't believe Griffin will avg. 15 and 11, but I'll pick him as my rookie of the year. I would've taken Griffin #1 overall. ------------------ the best there is, the best there was, the best there ever will be.
I think Eddie will avg. 30-35 min. 12-14 pts. 7-8 rebs. 2 blks. 3 assts. And because of his game and his new team, I think White will be the ROY. He'll get plenty of opportunities to play in DET. ------------------
Ok, here's one thing, and I'm surprising myself...I think Troy Murphy (!?!!?) will be on the all rookie team. I've read that he's lost 20 pounds, and has gotten back the "lightning first step " that he had back when the Rockets, among others, were drooling over him. IF that's true, at 6'11, with a great shot and a quick first step, he could have the same kind of rookie year Van Horn had...I'm really having a hard time believeing I'm saying this, cause, to be honest, Murphy was one of those "God I hope the Rockets don't waste the 13th pick on him!" guys for me just 2 days ago... ------------------
As I have predicted the Rookie of The Year correctly the last 4 years . I will go out on a limb and say "I have no freaking idea" ------------------ Reactions after The Rockets got Eddie Griffin for 3 draft picks "Eddie For 3 ... Yes!!! O Mother!!!!!!!"
My guess at rookie of the year, in order: Pau Gasol Shane Battier Eddie Griffin ------------------ RealGM Gafford Art Artisan Cakes
I am not going to say that he'll win it, but Eddy Curry is going to put up better numbers than a lot of the guys mentioned here. Who else are the Bulls going to go to? Ron Mercer is the only other player they have who can score. Also, Curry will be so much bigger and more athletic than most of the eastern conference centers short of Zo and Mt. Mutombo. Unless Fizer has a most improved kind of year then Curry will be atleast first team all rookie ------------------ Calvin Murphy for President!
UTBaller, no high school player in his first year in the league has ever scored more than 11 points a game. And Curry isn't near the prodigy that KG and Kobe were. I doubt he will even go near T-Mac when he fully develops, and T-Mac couldn't get off the bench in his rookie year on a bad Raptors team. Plus he is not even the most polished high schooler in his draft class. Kwame Brown is. Who cares if the Bulls go to him, he won't be able to do much until he develops. Mercer and Fizer will hoist up a lot of shots. The rest will go to Chandler and Curry, so to say that Curry will be at least on first team all-rookie is wishful thinking. ------------------ "I look kind of dumpy. Look at my butt. And what kind of shoes do they have me wearing? At least they got the chinstrap beard right." -Kevin Garnett on the KG bobblehead dolls during KG bobblehead doll night at the Target Center
Who is going to be the center on the first team all rookie? Loren Woods who apparently has a back that can't pass a physical, Diop who will play behind Mihm and Ilgauskas, or Brenda Haywood? The only guy who has a shot at beating out Curry, in my mind, is the big man from I think DePaul (he led the nation in FG%). ------------------ Calvin Murphy for President!
Hey ZRB don't you think your predictions for Curry and Chandler are a little generous considering that they are just out of HS? Oh and BTW Griffen's avg will be more like 45 20 and 10 ------------------
Exactly crash, no high schoolers come into the NBA and average a double double in their first year. ------------------ "I look kind of dumpy. Look at my butt.
