    >>>Rookie of the Year<<<

NEW YORK (Jan. 2, 2004) -- The National Football League today announced the five finalists for the 2003 PEPSI NFL ROOKIE OF THE YEAR award.

    Nick Barnett, Green Bay LB

    Anquan Boldin, Arizona WR

    Domanick Davis, Houston RB

    Andre Johnson, Houston WR

    Terrell Suggs, Baltimore LB

Fans can vote for one of these five players on NFL.com or SuperBowl.com from January 2 through January 22 to determine the PEPSI NFL ROOKIE OF THE YEAR.
The winner will be presented the 2003 PEPSI NFL ROOKIE OF THE YEAR award during a press conference in Houston, the site of Super Bowl XXXVIII, on Thursday, January 29, 2004. CBS Sports’ Deion Sanders, a two-time Super Bowl winner, will host the press conference.

The five finalists were selected after tabulating this season’s fan voting. Each week, five nominees were chosen and NFL fans voted for the winner on NFL.com
    ----------------------------------------------------------------

The voting is not giving any results so I have no idea who is leading. I just hope that A.J. and D.D. don't cancel each other out.

You can vote 10 times a day. (I think.)

Would love for it to be AJ or DD, but it's going to be a runaway to Anquan Boldin.

this is one time I wouldn't mind having co rookies of the year .. :) plus it's presented in Houston....

I have a feeling they will cancel each other out though.. I'll have to think about which of the two I'd vote for.. Might lean towards Davis. amazing story being that he didnt start at the beginning of year

I think Boldin will win. If Davis had played more, I think it would be closer.

I think the arizona wr will probably win as well..

I think andre will end up the better of him and davis for the texans, but I'm just amazed by the fact that davis wasn't expected to do anything and managed to end up a finalist...

at the beginning of the year it was mack talk and talk about hollings more than I ever heard davis

Personally, I'd like to see Davis win, but I don't think it will happen.

AB is going to win, but I think DD deserves this as well...

Congrats to DD. I thought Boldin would win due to his stats with no other receivers for the opponents defense to focus on and a nonexistant running attack with an average QB.

Boldin deserved to be a Co-Rookie of the Year, at least.

You've gotta be kidding me! Davis was good this year, but Boldin dominated. Still, I'm damn happy that the Texans get some good recognition.

Davis had basically the same combined yardage (1382 to 1417 for Boldin), both scored 8 TDs, Davis started 6 fewer games, Boldin was 24th in yards/catch among receivers w/ 50+ catches, Davis was 13th in yards/carry among runners w/ 200+ carries.

They should've shared it, but Davis winning outright wasn't a complete joke. And it *is* fan voting, so...

Anquan started out smoking hot, but then dropped off in the last few weeks of the season. DD emerged midseason and matched his numbers. I think DD left more of a lasting impression on the judges simply because he ended relatively strong. Good for him though, that's a solid achievement. Texans are looking mighty fine in the future.

Boldin had 1 hundred yard + game in his first 8 starts and had 4 in his last eight. That's hardly tailing off. He was 3rd in the NFL in receptions and broke Glenn's rookie reception record. He also was the AP's unanimous choice for offensive rookie of the year. I think he should have won.

Why is there 2 rookie of the year awards? One is voted from the fans and one by the NFL. Too many awards IMO.

Freakin' Sweet...Given that he started fewer games and truly revived our running game, it was well deserved...

And probably there are more Texans fans than Cardinal fans...;)

HOUSTON (Jan. 29, 2004) -- Houston Texans running back DOMANICK DAVIS was named the 2003 PEPSI NFL ROOKIE OF THE YEAR, Pepsi and the National Football League announced today.
More than 600,000 fans voted for five candidates on NFL.com from January 2 through January 22 to determine which rookie would win the second PEPSI NFL ROOKIE OF THE YEAR award. Last year, New York Giants tight end JEREMY SHOCKEY was named the 2002 Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Year. More than 1.3 million fans voted for the Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Year during the regular season and playoffs.

Davis was presented the award during a press conference in Houston, the site of Super Bowl XXXVIII.

Davis rushed for a team and rookie-high 1,031 yards and eight touchdowns on 238 carries, becoming the first Texans player to surpass the 1,000-yard mark in a season. He also became the first Texan to rush for 100 or more yards in a game, a mark he reached four times, when he rushed for 129 yards on 27 carries in his first career start in Week 7. Davis, who started 10 games, also caught 47 passes for 351 yards. He was nominated for the Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Week six times, winning the award a record five times, including an unprecedented four consecutive weeks, in Weeks 7, 8, 9, 10 and 13.

The five finalists were chosen after tabulating this season’s fan voting. Each week, five nominees were chosen and NFL fans voted for the winner on NFL.com.
