This was the first thing that came up with a search... ______ Ronnie Earle: "I Am Not A Candidate, Yet." link Last night at the monthly Texans for Obama meeting in Austin, Ronnie Earle came ready to win supporters with remarks about his priorities for the future Texas. While he clearly stated that he is not "yet" a candidate for the Governor's office, it's clear that the former District Attorney of Travis County is giving strong consideration to the race. He should--Earle is poised to be the immediate front-runner upon entering, and would provide the exciting candidate Democrats up and down the ballot need in 2010.
If Ronnie Earle were the Dem nominee and the general election was against DeLay puppet Rick Perry, the fireworks would be visible from Mars.
From what I hear, he is no different than Bobby Jindal in Louisiana. And as a native-cajun of Louisiana. I hope ya'll pass on Earle.
He could win the nomination, but is probably too far left to win in the general vs. perry or hutchinson. Though, he'd probably win Travis County by a record margin.
Earle's waaaayy to partisan. He'd easily lose to Perry or Hutchinson. Kinky vs Kay...now that would be a closer one I think...although the religious right would hate that scenerio.
I would vote for him. As for Ronnie being "too partisan," folks who say that should look at his record. He's gone after corrupt Democrats as well as corrupt Republicans during his entire career. As a matter of fact, if you examine his record, he's gone after more Democrats than Republucans. When my party was in power, Earle put many through a well deserved hell. The man can't be bought, he's amazingly smart, he rubs a lot of pols the wrong way, but that's because he doesn't care what side of the aisle you sit on, who you lobby for, or how much money you've got. Violate the public trust, and he's going to do his best to call you on the carpet and, if you deserve it, make you pay. That's the reason a lot of movers and shakers don't like him... pols, lobbyists, and the rich and powerful. Ronnie Earle can't be bought. It drives them crazy. If anyone wants a true reform Governor, Ronnie Earle is your man. That's my opinion, anyway.
What about Bill White? I thought he was running also. Regardless this is still a Republican state, so who ever they run will have an up hill battle. Rick Perry 4 life
