http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=aw-rondoceltics050910 I know that there has been vigorous discussion about Rajon in the Celtics/Cavs game thread, but I thought his performance yesterday might be worth a separate thread.
I agree. He should have got Most Improved last year(unless he did, I can't remember) he started out as like the 3rd point guard in the rotation behind a washed up Sam Cassell. Now he's their 1st option and their most valuable asset
Rondo never played behind Cassell. Cassell joined the Celtics in 08, a season in which Rondo started every game he played. Rondo did play behind Delonte West and Sebastian Telfair (!) his rookie year. The Celtics are really lucky that they got Allen and KG without having to give up Rondo. I guess that's what happens when Minnesota's GM is a HOF Celtic.
I really didn't like the style that guy used in the article. He over-exaggerated and over-emphasized everything. "This had been an epic performance out of Rondo in a stunning 97-87 Game 4 victory over the Cavaliers" "At 6-foot nothing, Rondo had delivered a surreal performance" "Last call for the core of a champion, last stand." "Rondo fired 50- and 60-foot passes through the air, catching teammates in strides for dunks. He fired bullets through the maze of passes and Cavalier arms and legs for back-door slams. He tossed lobs for jams." I think Rondo's great....writing about him as a high schooler would almost diminishes that greatness, imo, which is exactly the opposite of what he was attempting to do. Maybe its just because I can't read the word epic without pronouncing it all stupid like Jim Rome would. Couldn't he just say 6 foot zero?
I rather have Rondo than CP3 because Rondo does it without dominating the ball and his defense is the best of the bunch.
I felt from the beginning of this series that Rondo would destroy Mo Williams and prove to be the X-Factor. KG and co can slow Lebron, but no one on the Cavs can match up with Rondo.
Dude steps up it big in the playoffs. So who would you guys prefer between Rondo & Westbrook? I would say Rondo but Westbrook is 2 years younger and has been in the league for only 2 years.
Ha, in 5 years, the conversation will be: Best? Rondo, Williams, Rose, Westbrook, Wall, Paul. Worst time to be a crappy PG, knowing you have to defend these guys.
You're half right, Rondo is the reason the Celtics have won two games. But he's not destroying Mo Williams. He's destroying Parker. Williams isn't guarding him because they know he would get lit up even worse.
If James actually tries to guard Rondo, Pierce better find his game quick. The Truth is befuddled in mystery right now.
When talent is comparable, you have to go w/ the guy who has done it on the bigger stage Rondo played a big role on a team that won an NBA championship. Westbrook, while a good young player, has only had a good season and a hand full of playoff games. Not close really.
