Steve Forbes won one of these things a while back, '00 or '04, I think. Put it in the bottom drawer. Paul is basically the Kucinich of the Republican Party: too weird to be in leadership, and too much of a chicken**** to run in whatever party actually supports his views.

The poll results are for bragging rights but virtually meaningless.

On a side note, I always thought Obama was a dynamic speaker, but, at least today, Glenn Beck was overwhelmingly superior....serious cheers and tears from the neighbors gathered here. FYI

I think 53% of the voters said they wish the GOP had better candidates. 46% said they were satisfied with the current candidates.

Also, 33% (a plurality) believe that Republicans will pick up 40+ seats in the house of representatives.

The preeminent conservative conference of the year’s presidential straw poll is meaningless?

Yes. You may have noticed there's no Presidential race this year.

Yes, I did notice that. I also noticed that, as of now, republican pickings are quite slim for a presidential candidate.

mainstream republicans/neocon-wannabes/teabaggers would never support ron paul - especially w/ regards to his stance on foreign policy and 'the war on terror'.

the ironic thing w/ the teabaggers though is that whole movement was started by ron paul supporters to protest government waste/spending/taxation when bush was president. they got totally co-opted by fox news and became an outlet for disgruntled republicans/neocon-wannabes to voice their opposition to bho...nothing more - i dont believe these people are sincere in their beliefs at all, other than that they dont like obama for various reasons b/c if they were sincere they would have been teabaggin' it up while junior was still in office.

In my lifetime, Oral Roberts was the most charismatic speaker I have seen.
Being a charismatic speaker does not necessarily mean you are not full tilt bozo.

I'll tell you what, Batman Jones, conduct a poll -- formal or informal based on 20 or more votes -- here on the board. If 60% agree that I am a fool -- not that they disagree with me but rather consider me intellectually inferior -- I will refrain from posting in the D&D.

I think this says more about the gathered neighbors than Beck's oratory skill.
