I never agreed with the decision to admitt them to the union. I was honestly hoping for Amsterdam or Japan, but you can't always get what you want so I guess I'll have to be stuck feeling like one of those kids that didn't get an Iphone for Christmas.

Him having those views is a campaign killer. He won't win the hardline Republicans nor the lobbyists, which are essential to a presidential campaign.

Not one cent from America should be going to Israel.

You are aware that Amsterdam is a city, not a country? It is the Capital of the Netherlands (which is a country).

Lol. Yeah. We should totally cut ourselves off from foreign trade. Maybe it would be more appropriate to say something along the lines of, "Not one cent of foreign aid should be going anywhere outside America."

Regardless of your stance on Israel, this still affects his electability. Way too many tea baggers and conservatives do place a high value on the US-Israel alliance.

It's funny how people missed the point and this became an Israel bashing fest. I'm sure glynch will chime in soon.

Either way, google Ron Paul and the Civil Rights Act. Dude is just wayyyyyyyyyyy out there.

Hey Mathloom, what happens if I get into a fight with an Emirati in Dubai? Can you bail me out? I had a little situation here today.

Interesting article by Jordan Smith on the declining media consensus on Israel:

The media consensus on Israel is collapsing

Across the political spectrum, once-taboo criticism is now common

    Excerpts:

agree - his positions on israel and iran are turning off the foxnews/mainstream conservatives more than anything else. i was watching msnbc this morning and some chick on there even asked if ron paul hated america b/c of his position on iran. yes, b/c he doesnt want to attack a country who has not attacked us first that means he hates america.

he isnt singling out israel or anything - he doesnt want to give money to any country. and he isnt saying israel cant defend itself...quite the opposite - he is saying israel has a right to act in their own interests...but we should not be involved. clearly, our ties to israel have had a negative effect on our standing in the middle east and on our national security. and imo, no foreign government should wield the kind of power that the israeli lobby does over our elected officials.

as for iran, i thought we had already rejected the bush doctrine, but here we are gearing up for another pre-emptive war. we arm their enemy (israel, who has violated countless UN resolutions btw) and allow all their neighbors to have nukes...we covertly carry out acts of terrorism and espionage in their country, we crash spy planes in their country, our government is constantly making veiled threats towards them...and they arent allowed to have nuclear technology...to the point of being willing to go to war over it?
