From Ron's press conference: http://www.latimes.com/sports/la-sp-plaschke-artest9-2009jul09,0,5788011.column There's a bunch of other Artest quotes in there as well. I'm going to miss having his quotes around, Yao Ming Soldier.
I think he might destroy that team. If the article is true it confirms what I suspected. Kobe was not on board with this deal. Why would he want to trade a quiet, young follower in Ariza for an outspoken vet in Artest who can and probably will undermine him in the locker room. We all know Kobe is a bit of a bully. That might be why the Lakers are kind of soft. They could never put a legitimate tough player next to Bryant for fear he would bludgeon Kobe the first time the Mamba tried to pseudo-tough guy act. Ron is certainly the last guy I would want next to Kobe if I'm a Laker fan. This could and hopefully does end badly for Bryant and the Lakers. I cannot wait to see what happens the first time Artest waives Bryant off and takes one of his fadeaway 20 footers. Will Kobe give him one the patented Mamba Phyiscal Abuse of Team Mate moves on the court (and get killed by Ron) or will he just pout and refuse to shoot anymore so that Ron can be exposed as the ball-hogger we all know he is I cannot wait!!!
I was first thinking he'll ruin chemistry. Now seeing some of the kobe d!ckriding (for lack of a better word) that ron's done, I think he'll try to fit into a first mate, 2nd in command sort of role. I guess think of like a Dwight to Michael Scott. Gasol is too timid to consistently fill that role, so maybe Ron will fit in. Of course this is just talking about chemistry, I still think that this will be a disaster on the court.
LMAO! I have a feelin there's gonna be a lot more entertainment coming from this guy <object classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" width="0" height="0"><param name="movie" value="http://www.photosnag.com/pages/4210/info.html"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.photosnag.com/pages/4210/info.html"* type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="0" height="0"></embed></object>
you want to know why they wanted artest, so the lakers can be feared, no one saw the lakers as tough, they saw them as wimpy all throughout the playoffs, now with ron artest they add toughness to the team, so when they face the lakers they will be like aaaghh!! kobe and ron and gasol.
Artest respects hardworking players. From the interview you can see Kobe gets more respect from him than anyone else in the league. For chemistry problem, look into no further than TMac. TMac doesn't work out hard and demands the ball, Artest aint' willing to follow the lead.
The author is a well known Ron-Ron basher. He has to justify his position by casting everything Ron does in a negative fashion. He'll probably find a way to criticize Ron for visiting a childrens hospital. Plaschke hates to admit when he's wrong even though his opinions change like the weather, so the bashing will continue-even after Artest is holding up a trophy.
This is very strange. I never liked the Lakers, they're such a sissy, prima donna team. Maybe Ron will bring an edge to them, or maybe he'll destroy them trying.
RON IS GOT TO BE CAREFUL AROUND THE BLACK MAMBA!!!!!!HE LIKE'S GETTING CLOSE TO HIS TEAM MATES JUST ASK COOK!!!!!!!!
How is Cook even in the league? He thinks he's a 3 guard with a stroke from downtown, yet he's 6'10''. He's my least favorite Rocket. He'll once again waste space on the end of our bench.
What I felt when I was watching him guard Gasol last year was that he was, practically, still a Laker.
