I have nothing to say about Yao's injury, but it looks like he is missing next season.

How does that affect Ron Artest's situation? Without Yao and probably without McGrady we will probably be a 30-win team next season. Does Ron still want to play for this team?

    1) He wants to be the guy and put up big numbers. He doesn't mind having no chance at championship.

    2) He does not want to play for scrubs and he will look to sign with different team.

    Just wondering?

If Yao is indeed out for the season, Ron is leaving.

#2. He signed with us to win a ring. He won't want to be with us and we have no need for him anymore. S&T for youth + picks.

I think the OP is implying Ron as either doing choice 1 or 2. It was poorly phrased.

You can look at it 2 ways. Yao is out, T-Mac Im outta there or both Yao and T-Mac are out, thats ok, Im Ron "I think Im top 5 player in the league" Artest and can carry this team. Id go with option A and he leaves.

Why would the Rockets commit big bucks to a guy who will only hurt their position in the 2010 lottery, by winning them a few extra regular season games, but never be good enough to carry them deep into the playoffs?

    Youth movement starts today!

He'll resign if we offer him the money. It's always about the money. As far as winning goes, we have a good owner and a good GM, last year's team that loses 20 games in a row is this year's Championship Celtics.

Why would you even want him back? To add a meaningless 5-10 wins to our regular season record and hurt our draft positioning? Pointless.

i would be shocked if Ron signed back with the Rockets after hearing this news

sign and trade yeah I can see that happening

but I doubt he just resigns with us like that.

Ahh, right. That makes a lot more sense. :) I'm a bit blinded by grief at the moment...

Honestly, I love RonRon, but why should it be about whether or not he wants to stay here at this point? I don't think we should resign him with what we've known all along but was confirmed today.

I think the guy stays. He likes this team, and without the big fella he'll become the #1 option, plus, if we offer him the money he wants, he'll be happy there too. Seeing as how sans Yao he and the Rockets went 2-2 under Ron Ron, I think this team could make some noise.

I don't see why he would stay, if I'm him.

Best we can hope for is a sign-and-trade, I'm thinking.
