No matter how irritated the Pacer's coach was with Artest, they are not going to trade a fan favorite.

We just had a major disappointment with Eddie Griffin, so now we are crying out for two others with severe emotional problems, i.e. Artest and Rasheed Wallace. Yes, both are talented players. But how long would they last under a coach who emphasizes discipline even more than Rick Carlisle and Maurice Cheeks?

The Rockets would be taking a major gamble in either case.

The EC is loaded with SG's...Pierce, Vince, T-Mac, Eddie Jones, Kittles, David Wesley, Jason Terry, among others. Why does Indiana trade an All Star SF for Reggie Miller's backup?

seems like Carlyle is sick of his act. He benched Artest for the entire 2nd half, citing "conduct detrimental to winning"

my concern is that one of Artest's beef w/Carlyle is thet they run to many sets on offense & Ron likes to be free. This guy is a special player but he will find more of the same in Houston w/Van Gundy.

reggie millers backup? cat is the type of player that indy has been dreaming off the last couple years. a guy who can take his man off the dribble and create for himself. hell, thats why they took fred jones in the first round a couple years ago hoping he would become a cuttino-type player.

    Sorry, I have to disagree...

One, Crlyle calls every single play from the sideline. JVG is not that controlling.

Two, it seems pretty obvious that the Rockets are not running the coach's plays anyway:p (though they are getting better).

it seems jeff is a 50/50 type coach. we hear him yelling plays, and occasionally see him use hand signals. but other times, our points will be taking it up the floor looking at jeff and gettting nothing except told to push it up. when jimmy takes it up the floor he never looks at jeff, he lowers his head clyde style and runs the ball up and already has figured out what play to run, or to pass it off to steve or cat and let them create or dump it in.

Mobley can only dream of being the player Artest is.

artest can only dream of having the heart and charisma that cat has. artest is a great player, but like sheed, a loose cannon, and as evident by his quotes is not interested into buying into his coaches system or is concerned with the best interests of his team :(

Trade good player for all star player? I mean who in there right mind wouldn't? Artest is bigger, rebounds better, more athletic, only one drawback he's a worse shooter. But any GM in the league takes Artest over Mobley.

If there was any way of gertting Artest onto the Rockets Team it should be done. He would bring a defencive standard that is missing in our Team.

We're already the best defensive team in the league with what we have now, explain to me why we give up the only consistent scorer on this team (this year) for a defensive 3. I think we're playing pretty good D already, if anything we need to improve the offense.

Yeah, letting Melo go off for 37 was great D. Fouling Leonard at the 3 line was great D. Im strarting to get the clue that this team will never make it to "top 4 west contenders" because everyone is so damn scared of taking risks. You have to take a risk if you have any balls whatsoever. Otherwise you will be left in the dust. Good-great players arent going to fall into our laps ,nor be drafted by the Rockets (unless its a top 3 pick) nor be signed since the cap is shot for a few more years. Only way is trades. Trades are a risk and take balls. Otherwise you will keep seeing the same record year after and kinda like the Wolves, not real bad,nor real good, just average and 41-45 wins every year.

Artest missed shootaround. That may make him more available but also proves he is a nutcase.

    Artest misses morning shootaround
By JON KRAWCZYNSKI, Associated Press Writer

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -- Indiana Pacers forward Ron Artest missed the team's morning shootaround for Monday night's game against the Memphis Grizzlies because he overslept, two nights after being benched for his conduct during a loss to New Jersey.

Artest, benched for the second half of Saturday night's loss to New Jersey for what coach Rick Carlisle called ``conduct detrimental to winning,'' called the team Monday morning to tell them he would be late, Carlisle said.

Carlisle said he has scheduled a meeting with Artest for Monday afternoon to talk about the player's behavior.

When asked if missing the shootaround will affect his playing time against the Grizzlies, Carlisle replied, ``I would have to say yes, but we'll find out. We have to talk to him to reach a resolution. Does that mean he's not going to play at all? Not necessarily.''

Carlisle ripped Artest and the team after a lackluster performance for most of the game against the Nets, saying Artest ``compromised what the game is all about.''

Carlisle said he tried to contact Artest on Sunday, calling him on the phone and even stopping by his house and knocking on his door, but Artest was not home.

You make it sound like thats all the Blazers got for Wells. More like a first rounder and Person.
