This explains a lot. He thought it was only third down? Really? (check the smirk on the ref's face... ) <object width="660" height="525"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/7Ofebt0Kk24&hl=en&fs=1&color1=0x2b405b&color2=0x6b8ab6&border=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/7Ofebt0Kk24&hl=en&fs=1&color1=0x2b405b&color2=0x6b8ab6&border=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="660" height="525"></embed></object> Wow. Jessica's intellect must have rubbed off on him.
Speaking of which, why even do it? They already took a lot of time to set up for the spike, they should have just called a quick slant route or something to the endzone. And also, I would have ran the ball on 4th down since the clock doesn't matter since it's 4th down, and it would have caught the Broncos by surprise.

I have always wondered why teams spike the ball so much, I seen one team do it with 40 seconds left when they could have ran a play in College Football. The loss of downs hurt them.
Ditto, cracks me up how much Galloway has done an about face on Romo, he used to be one of his biggest supporters
I LOVED Galloway when I lived in Dallas for a few years. Total blowhard but he cracked me up. "Overreaction Monday" always made me laugh after Cowboys Games
It's still great. Everytime they win it's, "Goin' where the weather suits my clothes... Cows Superbowl bound." Everytime they lose it's, "Cows lose, Cows lose... COWS STINK!" BTW- the official response from the Cowboys is that "Romo knew the down, but he was trying to fool the refs into thinking there was a down left." Riiiiiiiight.
For one you can get a solid play drawn up and you also still get the 3 downs you normally would if you didn't spike it since you are going for it on 4th down.
This has been debunked. He knew what down it was. The local news went over this here in D/FW after the myth was started by the media. The deal is the guy who keeps track of downs had the marker at 3rd down after the 4th down play just ended. Tony held up 3 fingers indicating the marker is set to 3rd down. He was trying to bs his way to another down. It turns out the guy with the downs marker was rolling it back from 4th down to 1st down and it was set to 3rd down when Tony looked at it. Tony quickly realized this and left the field. Tony had indicated in the huddle that it was 4th down on the last play. He knew what down it was.
Yeah, the video totally corroborates this. He obviously undoes his chinstrap and starts walking off the field as soon as the play is over, until he looks around and sees the down marker and then checks with the ref to see what's the deal. He probably just thought there may have been a penalty or something he didn't know about. "Controversy Fail" for whoever tried to make this a big deal.
Still hilarious, Galloway is great to listen to after a Cows loss because its endless beatdowns. I'm not a cows fan so it's great entertainment
never was a big deal, 3rd down or 4th, its not like he did something that cost them the game, they were already losing most embarrassing thing is when a baseball player forgets how many outs there are and tosses the ball to the fans
Cowboys just need to run the ball and have a qb that doesnt lose the game for them. Solid defense great running game. I'm starting to think they would be better with Kitna....
No, they just need to take the chains off of Romo and let him play the way he was playing a couple years ago. He is thinking too much, and playing not to lose, instead of aggressively trying to beat the other team. This will probably be the week that the staff gets this through their heads. Both Cowboys losses were games they should have won handily. Granted, Denver's defense turned ferocious in the 2nd half, but that was aided greatly by Romo's drummed-in timidity. And the Giants? Psh. Dallas beat their asses that whole game, if not for 24 freaking points in gifts. Sigh.
