so, who's gonna watch this show (if you've seen 30 seconds of ESPN recently, you've seen a commercial for it and know about it)? starts tomorrow at 6 i believe. is it gonna be better than pti? worse than pti but better than around the horn. worse than both? i think i'll definitely watch the first one. in general i like Rome, although i never listen to his radio show and only watched the last word every once in a while. the non-bs approach can be contrived sometimes but for the most part it seems refreshing in the sports world. and since i'm sure lots of people hate him, y'all can ignore talk about the show and just use this thread to bash him if you want.
I like Rome, I'll definately be watching. I never get to listen to his radio show when I'm at school since I'm usually in class, but I will definately be watching this show.
You mean Chris Everett? *sound of table being turned over* I used to listen to Rome everyday but have cut back quite a bit because his front-running grew to be tiresome and an old act. I like how he tells it how it is but hate how hell rip an athlete on air and then act like they are his best friend during an interview. The top athletes are the ones who are his buds. You never hear him say "Dan Langhi .......LOVE that guy".
LOL, very true. I used to be a full fledged "clone" but there's only so much Laker talk I can take. He does rip guys a lot...unless they come on his show, then he "LOVES that guy". However, if something happens to an athlete "off the field" I make it a point to listen so I can hear Rome rip him apart. "Out-STAAAAAAAANDING"
I like Rome and I will probably watch the show if I catch it on, but I have become more and more tired of Rome when I listen to his radio show. He repeats the same thing over and over and over again and will constantly stroke his ego by reading the emails that support him. "Rome, that interview had to be one of the most emotional things I have ever heard. I had to pull over to the side of the road and shed a few tears....yada yada yada". I know its his own show and he can do what he likes, but it gets old to me hearing the guy only read emails that are pro-Rome and say things that just inflate his ego.
Love that guy, He's such a good guy, I heard a little of Rome the day after Lugo was arrested, he was pretty harsh.
when rome first came to houston, i was hooked! i listened to it at work everyday...in the last few years, the show has gone stale. it's the same show every freaking day. "terrell owens...i love that guy....great.....outstanding....we have an email.....'dear rome...great interview...i grew up in NoCal and i freaking love T.O....you're the best...Dan in NoCal.' great....dan getting in on the email....(crumples up paper)....out." i can't tell you how many times i get in the car and wonder why there's radio silence...seriously, like 5 seconds go by and i'm thinking, "did i blow my speakers?? why isn't this working??" only to realize it's jim rome in the midst of one of his MANY pauses.
the beautiful thing is seeing the local sports radio guys trying to do a dramatic pause here and there... it's just not the same!!
"Let's go to Jeremy from Minute Maid Park, Jeremy what do you have for us? Hello? Yes, Jeremy you're on the air! I don't uh....is this the tape room?" Has anyone heard "the Madden Guy" do his Rome imitation? It's EEEEEEPIC.
Rome was cool the first year, and still funny, but now I'm a little tired of his act. Plus all of his little terms are soooooo hack.
Rome Yeah its pretty funny to watch. I for one dont like Rome, perhaps this is why he wont bash people to thier face anymore. I mean he looked pretty helpless there, maybe it taught him that his actions do carry a consequence
Wow I never remembered that Rome looked much more a like sh-t talking dork then. He never expected anyone to fight back. I thought it was funny but Everett should have really decked him for being such a jackass right to his face. Anyhow...today Rome looks a lot more like a bad-ass, if you will, with his goatee and whatnot, but he is more of a puss now. He only rips people when its safe to now.
I used to be hooked on the show back then up til, i'' say 99-2000. I first started listening to his radio show back in fall of 97, and was HOOKED. I loved it. It kicked ass. I remember in the summertimes, that is all i did. I would i sit in the darkness of my room with the radio on listening to it til 3pm. My friend would come get me to play basketball, but i would say hold on, let me finish listening to the show. Anyhoo, I actually still haven't seen a promo for Rome is Burning, but I've seen little graphics for it. Do you guys think he is coming to Houston this year?
