In honor of the new Justin Bieber movie opening this Friday, what better way for Mr. Polanski to finally be in one room full of underage pre-teen girls...
R-Kelly and SPM you're invited too...

He is a constant reminder to separate the art from the artist. He has directed some of the best movies of all time- Rosemary's Baby, Chinatown, and The Pianist- and that's the extent of my interest in him.

I watched this recently, and aside from the awesome ending... what makes this one of the best of "all time"?

Probably because he's been in prison for banging little girls.

It's routinely viewed that way. It's kind of like The Godfather isn't in my top 20 favorites, but I acknowledge it as one of the greatest films ever made in terms of impact, accolades, it's place in culture, etc.

It's received its fair share of recognition:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinatown_(film)

Chinatown has been called one of the greatest films ever made.[1][2][3] It was nominated for eleven Academy Awards, winning in the category of Best Original Screenplay for Robert Towne. In 1991, Chinatown was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant."

IT'S the film that cemented Jack Nicholson's reputation as the best American actor of his generation and it was the last film Roman Polanski would make in the US before he fled the country in disgrace. Now, 36 years later, their 1974 release Chinatown has been voted the greatest film ever made.

The Chandleresque ''neo-noir'', with an Oscar-winning script by Robert Towne and a superlative performance by Nicholson as detective J.J. Gittes, was voted into first place by a panel of Guardian and Observer critics. Chinatown beat six other films in a shortlist drawn from the recently published seven-part newspaper series, The Greatest Films of All Time.

Equal second were Alfred Hitchock's Psycho (from the horror section) and Andrei Tarkovsky's Andrei Rublev (from the arthouse section).

They need to leave the guy alone. I mean Samantha Geimer/Samantha Gailey is now the infamous girl and that didn't damaged her.
